Heads-Up Display Explained — Dark Souls III: The Ringed City Guide

Understand every element of the Dark Souls III: The Ringed City Heads-Up Display. Monitor your health bar and manage critical resources to survive the DLC's in.

The Heads-Up Display (HUD) in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City provides essential information for survival. Understanding each element is crucial for managing your resources and reacting to threats. The HUD is generally consistent with the base game but remains vital for the DLC's increased challenges.

  • Health Bar: Located at the top left, this red bar indicates your current HP. When it depletes, you will die.
  • Stamina Bar: Situated below the health bar, this green bar governs actions like attacking, dodging, blocking, and sprinting. It regenerates over time when not in use.
  • Focus Points (FP) Bar: Found below the stamina bar, this blue bar represents your mana pool for casting spells and using Weapon Arts.
  • Equipped Items: Typically shown on the right side of the screen, this displays your currently selected Estus Flasks, Ashen Estus Flasks, and other consumable items.
  • Weapon/Shield Icons: Usually located near the equipped items, these show your currently equipped left and right-hand gear.
  • Spell Icons: If you have spells equipped, their icons will appear, often near the weapon icons, indicating your currently selected spell.
  • Status Effects: Icons representing various status effects (e.g., Poison, Bleed, Curse, Frostbite) will appear near your health bar when active.
  • Target Lock Indicator: When locked onto an enemy, a reticle or symbol will appear around them, indicating your current target.
  • Boss Health Bar: For boss encounters, a large health bar for the boss will appear at the top center of the screen.

Pay close attention to your stamina bar; running out of stamina during combat can leave you vulnerable. Similarly, monitor your FP bar if you rely heavily on spells or Weapon Arts. The DLC introduces new enemies and hazards that can inflict unique status effects, so understanding the status effect icons is also paramount.
