Hidden Embers & Coals

Locate hidden Embers and Coals in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City. Enhance your weapons and offensive capabilities to overcome the DLC's formidable enemies.

The Ringed City is home to several hidden Embers and Coals, crucial for upgrading your weapons and enhancing your offensive capabilities. These items are often found in challenging locations, guarded by formidable foes or hidden behind illusory walls. Discovering them is key to maximizing your damage output against the DLC's toughest enemies.

Ember Locations:

  • Dark Ember: Found in the Dreg Heap, near the first bonfire. It's located in a small alcove guarded by a Harald Legion Knight. This Ember allows Andre of Astora to infuse weapons with an Embered state, increasing their physical attack power.
  • Deep Ember: Located in the Profaned Capital, within the main building. It's found on a corpse in a room filled with toxic mist and several Hollows. This Ember enables the infusion of weapons with a "Deep" enchantment, which adds Dark damage and scales with Intelligence and Faith.
  • Chaos Ember: Found in the Smouldering Lake, within the cave system. It's located near the Giant Crab, on a corpse. This Ember allows for the infusion of weapons with a "Chaos" enchantment, adding Fire damage and scaling with Intelligence and Faith.
  • Crystal Ember: Found in the Grand Archives, on a corpse in a room with several Scholar enemies. This Ember allows for the infusion of weapons with a "Crystal" enchantment, adding Magic damage and scaling with Intelligence.

Coal Locations:

  • Giant's Coal: Found in the Undead Settlement, near the giant's bonfire. It's located on a corpse guarded by several Hollows. This Coal allows Andre of Astora to infuse weapons with the "Heavy," "Sharp," and "Refined" infusions, which primarily scale with Strength, Dexterity, and both respectively.
  • Lothric Coal: Found in the Lothric Castle, within the main chapel. It's located on a corpse guarded by a Lothric Knight. This Coal allows for the infusion of weapons with the "Blessed" and "Simple" infusions, which grant HP regeneration and FP regeneration, respectively, and scale with Faith.
  • Humanity Dregs: While not a traditional Ember or Coal, Humanity Dregs are a covenant item that can be traded with the Pale Shade of Londor for various benefits, including the ability to infuse weapons with a "Dark" enchantment. These are primarily farmed from the Hollows in the Catacombs of Carthus.

Collecting these Embers and Coals is essential for tailoring your weapon's damage output to your character's build and overcoming the unique resistances of The Ringed City's inhabitants.
