The path to the optional boss, Darkeater Midir, is one of the most well-hidden secrets within The Ringed City DLC. It requires a specific sequence of actions and exploration off the beaten path. have progressed to a certain point in the DLC and possess a keen eye for environmental clues.
Accessing the Midir Path
To even begin the journey towards Midir, you must first reach the Ringed City Streets bonfire. From this bonfire, you will need to proceed through the area, dealing with the various Hollows and Ringed Knights. The key is to look for a specific architectural feature that deviates from the main path.
After navigating the initial section of the Ringed City Streets and dealing with the enemies, you will come to a large, open courtyard area with several statues. Instead of proceeding forward towards the main objective, look for a broken wall or an area that appears to be a dead end. There is a section of the wall that can be broken or bypassed, leading to a hidden ledge.
This hidden ledge will take you down into a lower area. Be cautious, as this path is often patrolled by enemies, including some of the more formidable Ringed Knights. The path itself is narrow and can be treacherous, with opportunities to fall to your death. Carefully make your way along the ledge, keeping an eye out for any loot or shortcuts that might open up.
Eventually, this hidden path will lead you to a large, dark chasm. Across this chasm, you will see a bridge. The crucial element here is that this bridge is not immediately obvious as a path. It is a long, winding bridge that descends into the darkness. This is the path to Darkeater Midir.
It's highly recommended to have a good source of light, such as a torch or a spell that illuminates the area, as this path is exceptionally dark and can be disorienting. The descent is long, and the enemies encountered here can be challenging. be prepared for a tough fight before even reaching the boss fog gate.
