Spears of the Church Covenant - How to Rank Up and Obtain Rewards

Rank up in the Spears of the Church covenant by defending The Ringed City and earn rewards like Spear of the Church's Greatsword and Projectiles miracle.

The Spears of the Church covenant offers a unique PvP experience within The Ringed City, allowing players to defend the Ringed City itself as a sacred guardian. Ranking up within this covenant is primarily achieved by successfully defending the Ringed City against invading players. Each successful defense, where you defeat the invading player(s) before they reach the final boss arena, grants you progress towards the next rank. The covenant leader, the Pilgrim, located near the boss fog of the Halflight, Spear of the Church, is where you will offer the Church's Favor to ascend through the ranks. The primary reward for ranking up is the acquisition of powerful miracles and unique equipment. At Rank 1, you will receive the Spear of the Church's Greatsword. Reaching Rank 2 will reward you with the unique miracle, Projectiles. The ultimate reward for reaching the highest rank, Rank 3, is the powerful miracle, Lightning Arrow. To maximize your ranking speed, focus on actively defending the Ringed City. This means engaging invaders as soon as they appear. The covenant mechanics are designed to pit you against players who are attempting to reach the final boss, Gael. Your objective is to defeat them, thereby protecting the sanctity of the Ringed City. While direct combat is the primary method of ranking, understanding the arena and using the environment to your advantage can be crucial. The arena itself features pillars and obstacles that can be used for cover or to funnel enemies. Be aware that invaders may also summon phantoms to aid them, so be prepared for multi-player encounters. The covenant also offers a passive benefit: while you are a member, you have a slightly increased chance of being summoned as a defender. This means even when not actively seeking out invaders, opportunities to defend may arise organically. Successfully defending against multiple invaders without dying will significantly speed up your progress. The covenant rewards are highly sought after for their utility and unique properties, making the effort to rank up worthwhile for many players seeking to complete their build or collection.
