Lothric Knight

The Lothric Knights are formidable early-game enemies found throughout the High Wall of Lothric. They are heavily armored, wield powerful straight swords and shields, and can be a significant challenge for unprepared players. Encountering them for the first time can be daunting, but understanding their attack patterns and weaknesses will turn them into manageable foes, and even valuable sources of early-game equipment.

There are two primary variants you'll encounter: the sword and shield knight, and the spear knight. Both are dangerous, but their strategies differ slightly. The sword and shield variant is characterized by its strong defensive posture and quick, multi-hit sword combos. They will often block your attacks, so patience is key. The spear variant, while less common in the High Wall, has a longer reach and can be particularly annoying in tight corridors.

  • Strategy: For sword and shield knights, bait out their attacks. They often perform a three-hit combo or a shield bash followed by a sword swing. Dodge through their attacks and counter-attack once or twice before they recover their guard. Kicking their shield (forward + R1/RB) can break their guard, leaving them vulnerable to a critical hit.
  • Parrying: Lothric Knights are excellent parry practice. Their sword swings are telegraphed, making them relatively easy to parry if you get the timing down. A successful parry will open them up for a devastating critical attack.
  • Drops: These knights have a chance to drop their entire armor set (Lothric Knight Helm, Armor, Gauntlets, Leggings), their Lothric Knight Sword, and their Lothric Knight Shield. The Lothric Knight Sword is an excellent straight sword for early and even mid-game, making farming these enemies worthwhile. They also drop Titanite Shards.
