Patches Questline
Patches, the notoriously deceitful merchant, makes his return in Dark Souls III, bringing his sature brand of trickery and betrayal. His questline is intricately linked with that of Siegward of Catarina, and involves a series of encounters where he attempts to ensnare the player. Patches can first be encountered in the Cathedral of the Deep, where he will attempt to trap You in a seemingly advantageous situation, only to kick them down a pit.
Later, after You has opened the main doors to the Cathedral of the Deep, Patches can be found in Firelink Shrine, often near the main entrance. His dialogue and actions continue to be manipulative, and he will attempt to trick You multiple times. A crucial element of his questline involves the player's decision to forgive his transgressions. If You chooses to forgive Patches, he will transition from a deceptive antagonist to a useful merchant, offering several items for sale.
His inventory can be quite valuable, and his presence in Firelink Shrine provides a convenient place to purchase necessary supplies. The progression of his questline is often tied to the player's interactions with Siegward. For example, Patches may offer information or items related to Siegward's predicament, or his actions might directly influence Siegward's fate. Players who wish to fully explore the content of Dark Souls III and potentially gain access to unique items or services should pay close attention to Patches's movements and dialogue, and make judicious choices regarding his deceitful overtures.
