The Cemetery of Ash serves as the starting location for new players, where they are revived as an 'Unkindled'. Here, players must face Iudex Gundyr to prove their worth before proceeding to Firelink Shrine and exploring Lothric. The Fire Keeper and Andre are crucial NPCs encountered early in the journey.

After defeating Iudex Gundyr, players will open large double doors leading to the Firelink Shrine. This hub area is where many important NPCs will gather. The Fire Keeper is a key NPC in the Firelink Shrine, essential for leveling up and progressing. Andre the Blacksmith, also found in the Firelink Shrine, handles weapon reinforcement and other crafting services.

The lore of Lothric states: "The fire fades, and the lords go without thrones." When the link of fire is threatened, the bell tolls, unearthing the old Lords of Cinder from their graves. These include Aldrich, Saint of the Deep; Farron’s Undead Legion, the Abyss Watchers; and Yhorm the Giant. The Unkindled rise to seek embers.
