Oceiros, the Consumed King, is an optional boss found in the Consumed King's Garden. This formidable foe was once a king who delved too deep into forbidden knowledge, transforming into a grotesque, dragon-like creature. His fight is divided into two distinct phases, each demanding a different approach from the player.
Phase 1 Strategy
In his first phase, Oceiros retains some semblance of his former self, wielding a staff and exhibiting more controlled, albeit powerful, attacks. He primarily uses sweeping staff strikes and can cast a magical breath attack. The key to this phase is to stay close to Oceiros, specifically targeting his hind legs. His attacks have a significant reach, but staying beneath him generally allows players to avoid the brunt of his damage. When he casts his magical breath, it's advisable to quickly move to his side or behind him. Oceiros is also susceptible to Frostbite, making weapons or spells that inflict this status effect a viable option. You can often get several hits in after dodging his combos before needing to reposition.
Phase 2 Strategy
Upon reaching approximately 50% health, Oceiros undergoes a dramatic transformation, becoming feral and much more aggressive. He abandons his staff and begins to charge frequently across the arena, often chaining these charges together. His attacks become faster and more unpredictable, and he gains a powerful crystal breath attack that can devastate unprepared players. The strategy of staying under him and attacking his hind legs remains the most effective, but it requires significantly more precise dodging. When Oceiros charges, players must time their dodges carefully to avoid being hit. Dodging *towards* him and slightly to the side as he passes can often position You behind him, allowing for continued attacks. The crystal breath attack can be avoided by quickly moving to his flank or by finding cover behind the environment. Oceiros is weak to Lightning damage, so any lightning-infused weapons or spells will significantly shorten this phase of the fight.
