Side Quest Progression with NPCs

Many NPCs are tied to optional side quests that can be triggered by specific events or interactions. Following these quests can lead to unique rewards and even different game endings, such as the 'Usurpation of Fire' ending.

  • Hawkwood: Talk to him in Firelink Shrine.
  • Greirat of the Undead Settlement: Free him from his cell in the High Wall of Lothric and accept his request to find Loretta. Later, obtain Loretta's Bone in the Undead Settlement and give it to Greirat.
  • Leonhard: After reaching the second bonfire in the High Wall of Lothric, talk to him in Firelink Shrine, next to Lothric's Throne. His quest involves Rosaria, Mother of Rebirth.
  • Anri of Astora: This NPC is central to an ending and has two main quest paths.
    1. Usurpation of Fire Ending Path:
      • Talk to Anri at the forest Bonfire.
      • After defeating the Deacons of the Deep, talk to Anri again at the main hub bonfire.
      • Talk to Anri in the Catacombs.
      • Kill Horace at the bottom of the Catacombs.
      • Talk to Anri and tell them where Horace is before killing Wolnir.
      • Talk to Anri at the Church of Yorshka bonfire.
      • If Yoel's questline (leveling up 5 times) is maxed out, Yuria of Londor (located next to Yoel's body in the main bonfire) will state your spouse is ready.
      • Go to the Darkmoon Chamber and complete the ritual.
    2. Alternate Questline (Helping Anri defeat Aldrich):
      • Talk to Anri at the forest Bonfire.
      • After defeating the Deacons of the Deep, talk to Anri again at the main hub bonfire.
      • Talk to Anri in the Catacombs.
      • Kill Horace at the bottom of the Catacombs.
      • Talk to Anri and tell them where Horace is before killing Wolnir.
      • Talk to Anri at the Church of Yorshka bonfire.
      • Kill the pilgrim next to the Church of Yorshka bonfire.
      • Get summoned to help Anri defeat Aldrich.
      • Visit the Catacombs and the place where you killed Horace.
  • Leonhard's Quest (involving Rosaria):
    • Proceed in the game and talk to Leonhard again; he will be at Firelink Shrine or in Rosaria's room.
    • Later in the game, return to Rosaria's location to find her dead and obtain a Black Eye Orb.
    • Go up the elevator behind the Aldrich boss fight into Gwynevere's room and use the Black Eye Orb.
    • Defeat Leonhard to obtain Rosaria's Soul.
    • You can return Rosaria's Soul (which yields no reward) or trade it for a magic spell.
    • The Firelink Maiden will sell Leonhard's set after his defeat.
