After successfully defeating a Confession boss with a hero, that hero gains a 'Memory'. Memories are permanent buffs that persist across all future runs, making that hero significantly stronger. Each hero can gain up to five Memories. Prioritize getting Memories on your favorite or most effective heroes. This system is the ultimate long-term progression in Darkest Dungeon II, making subsequent runs easier and allowing for even more powerful builds. The Altar of Hope also offers permanent unlocks for trinkets, combat items, and heroes, which should be prioritized early on.
