Essential Provisions, Trinkets, and Equipment Strategy
Success in the Estate is dictated as much by your preparation in the Hamlet as by your actions in the corridors. To prevent madness and death, you must master the three pillars of inventory management: Provisions, Trinkets, and Hero Gear.
Provisions and Expeditions
Before embarking, you must purchase supplies tailored to the dungeon's environment. Food is non-negotiable to prevent starvation damage, while Torches maintain high light levels to keep stress low and accuracy high. Specialized consumables like Holy Water, Antivenom, and Bandages are essential for interacting with Curios to gain buffs or for curing debilitating status effects in combat. Always bring Shovels; excavating obstacles by hand inflicts massive stress and party damage.
Trinkets and Specialization
Trinkets are the primary way to augment a hero's base stats. Early game focuses on mitigating weaknesses (e.g., Accuracy or Speed), while late-game builds leverage powerful Class-Specific or Very Rare items to maximize Critical Hit chance or Damage. Be wary of the "stress tax" found on many powerful Trinkets, and balance offensive boosts with defensive utility like Protection or Dodge to ensure survivability during long delves.
Armor and Weapon Upgrades
Hero equipment (Weapons and Armor) must be upgraded at the Blacksmith as your heroes level up. Unlike Trinkets, these provide raw, permanent increases to Damage, Speed, HP, and Dodge. A Level 5 hero with Level 1 gear is a liability; prioritize Blacksmith upgrades to ensure your party can meet the increased Accuracy and Protection requirements of Veteran and Champion level dungeons.
