Wolf packs are a significant threat, especially in forested areas. They hunt in groups and can quickly overwhelm an unprepared survivor.
Behavior:
- Pack Hunters: Always appear in groups (3-6 wolves).
- Fast & Agile: Difficult to hit, can circle and flank.
- Bleeding: Attacks often cause bleeding.
- Persistent: Will chase you for a long distance.
Strategy:
- Listen: Listen for their distinctive howls. If you hear them, prepare for an encounter.
- Seek Shelter: Get into a building, onto a vehicle, or climb a tall structure. Wolves cannot open doors or climb.
- Engagement:
- Weapon Choice: Automatic weapons (M4A1, AKM) or shotguns are effective for dealing with multiple targets.
- Melee: A powerful melee weapon (axe, sledgehammer) can work if you're cornered, but it's risky.
- Focus Fire: Try to take down one wolf at a time to reduce the threat.
- Bleeding: Be ready to bandage after each hit.
- Fire: A lit campfire can deter wolves, but they may still attack if you get too close.
Rewards: Wolf meat (cookable), wolf pelt (valuable for crafting or trade), wolf fat.
