Every new life in DayZ begins on the coast, often with nothing but a t-shirt, jeans, and a flare or rag. Your immediate priorities are finding food, water, and basic tools.

Immediate Steps:

  1. Locate a Town: Look for roads or power lines and follow them inland. Coastal towns are often picked over but can still yield basic supplies.
  2. Search for Food & Water: Prioritize finding canned food, fruit, or drinks. Wells are a reliable source of clean water. Avoid drinking from ponds or rivers without purification.
  3. Find a Melee Weapon: A stone, axe, or even a sturdy stick can be used to defend against infected.
  4. Gather Rags: Tear up clothing (your own or found) to create rags. Combine two rags to make a bandage.
  5. Craft a Stone Knife: Find a small stone and combine it with another small stone in your hands to craft a stone knife. This is essential for opening cans, skinning animals, and cutting rags.
  6. Stay Warm: If it's cold, find warmer clothing or build a fire. Hypothermia is a silent killer.
  7. Avoid Conflict: As a fresh spawn, you are extremely vulnerable. Avoid other players and large groups of infected until you are better equipped.

Remember, every life is precious. Don't take unnecessary risks early on. Stealth and awareness are your best friends.
