Understanding Stats, Equipment, and Mutations
In Dead Cells, character progression is driven by stats, equipment, and mutations. Scrolls are crucial for upgrading player stats. There are various types of scrolls:
- Scroll of Power: Adds one point to one of the three stats. Found in scroll vats, enemy drops, cursed chests, and Challenge Rift chests.
- Assassin's Scroll: Adds one point to either Brutality or Tactics. Found in scroll vats and enemy drops.
- Minotaur's Scroll: Adds one point to either Brutality or Survival.
- Guardian's Scroll: Adds one point to either Tactics or Survival.
- Epic Scrolls of Power: Adds one point to all three stats. Found in scroll vats in Daily Runs.
- Scroll Fragment: Every 4 fragments collected grant a Scroll of Power. Found on pedestals, enemy drops, and bosses.
Blueprints are essential for unlocking new Gear, Mutations, upgrades, and outfits. They can be found by defeating enemies, in secret areas, or areas blocked by keys, rune requirements, puzzles, or timed doors. Some blueprints are restricted by Boss Stem Cells, meaning they may not drop on lower difficulty levels or require specific items, enemies, or pathways only available at higher BSC counts.
Once a blueprint is found, it must be delivered to the Collector in any biome transition. Cells are then used to unlock it. After unlocking, the item becomes available throughout the game, selectable from the Tailor or purchasable from Guillain. If the player dies before delivering a blueprint to the Collector, it is lost for that run.
