Items & Equipment

In Dead Cells, items and equipment are crucial for survival and progression. These include various pickups that provide immediate benefits and blueprints that unlock permanent additions to your arsenal. Understanding where and how to acquire these is vital for a successful run.

Pickups: These are temporary items collected by interacting with them or walking over them (for gems). They fall into several categories:

  • Healing pickups: Restore health or reduce Malaise.
  • Scrolls: Upgrade player stats.
  • Currency pickups: Award cells or gold.
  • Special pickups: Serve miscellaneous functions.
  • Keys: Unlock doors.

Blueprints: These are permanent unlocks for new Gear, Mutations, upgrades, and outfits. Blueprints are acquired by:

  • Killing enemies.
  • Finding them in hidden secret areas.
  • Accessing areas blocked by keys, rune requirements, puzzles, or timed doors.

Once a blueprint is found, it must be delivered to the Collector in a biome transition. After paying the cell cost, the item becomes available in the game, from the Tailor, or for purchase from Guillain. Blueprints are lost if the player dies before delivering them to the Collector.

Blueprint rarity affects drop chance, with categories including Always, Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Legendary. Rare and Legendary blueprints are visually distinct, appearing red with special text upon collection.
