The Basics of Dead Cells — Walkthrough

Dead Cells is a Roguelike Metroidvania with randomly generated levels, but specific events, Blueprints, and bosses are preset. This guide outlines each exploration area, detailing enemy types, hazards, Scrolls of Power, and area-specific Blueprints. It covers game progression, Blueprint locations, boss strategies, and achievements.

This guide offers:

  • A large basics section answering many Dead Cells questions.
  • A game progression flowchart.
  • Guides to each level in the game.
  • Boss strategy guides for every boss.
  • Location guides for every Blueprint.
  • Achievement/trophy guide.

Basic sections include:

  • Combat Mechanics and Techniques
  • Stats, Equipment and Mutations
  • Runes
  • Mini-Map and Points of Interest
  • Enemy Tactics

Runes are permanent upgrades, some unlocking alternate paths to new Biomes or enabling the use of objects. They are found in specific places after defeating a Boss or Elite enemy in unique rooms. Runes are instantly unlocked upon collection and can be viewed in the saved game slot. Upgrades are permanent improvements purchased from the Collector with cells, benefiting the player across runs. Some require Blueprints from specific locations.

Blueprints unlock new Gear, Mutations, upgrades, and outfits. They are found by killing enemies or in secret areas, sometimes blocked by keys, rune requirements, puzzles, or timed doors. Some Blueprints are limited by Boss Stem Cells. Once found, deliver them to the Collector in any biome transition and pay cells to unlock them. Unlocked items can be found in-game, selected from the Tailor, or bought from Guillain. Blueprints are lost if the player dies before delivering them to the Collector. The rarity names like Rare and Legendary are cosmetic, affecting scroll color and text when collected, but not related to Legendary gear quality.
