Mission 1-2: Hayate's Burden

Following Kasumi's brief but intense encounter, the narrative shifts to Hayate, who is grappling with the aftermath of the M.I.S.T. incident. This mission serves as an introduction to Hayate's unique fighting style, emphasizing his powerful strikes and counter-attacking capabilities. You'll face a familiar opponent, but with a different objective in mind.

Opponent: Kasumi

While you just controlled Kasumi, now you'll be fighting against her. She will be more aggressive than in the previous mission, but still provides ample opportunities to learn Hayate's moveset.

Objective: Defeat Kasumi with a Fatal Blow

This mission introduces the concept of a Fatal Blow, a powerful cinematic attack that can turn the tide of battle. To successfully complete this objective, you'll need to strategically lower Kasumi's health and then execute the Fatal Blow at the opportune moment.

  1. Familiarize Yourself with Hayate's Stances: Hayate has several distinct stances. Pay attention to his Izuna Drop (Forward + Punch + Kick) and Shuriken Barrage (Back + Punch) for ranged pressure.
  2. Practice Countering: Kasumi will often initiate combos. Use Hayate's Hazy Moon (Hold Back + Punch) to parry her attacks and create openings for your own offense. This is crucial for building your Fatal Rush gauge.
  3. Build Your Fatal Rush Gauge: Every successful attack, counter, and even some blocks will contribute to your Fatal Rush gauge (located at the bottom of the screen). Aim to fill at least one segment.
  4. Lower Kasumi's Health: Engage Kasumi with a mix of Hayate's strong punches and kicks. Don't be afraid to use his Spinning Back Kick (Down-Forward + Kick) for quick damage. Get her health bar into the red, ideally below 25%.
  5. Execute the Fatal Blow: Once Kasumi's health is low and you have at least one Fatal Rush segment filled, press the Fatal Rush button (typically R1/RB) followed by the Fatal Blow button (typically R2/RT). This will trigger the cinematic attack. Ensure you land the final hit of the Fatal Blow to complete the objective.

Tip: If you're struggling to land the Fatal Blow, try to knock Kasumi down first with a powerful attack, then activate the Fatal Blow as she's getting up. This can make it easier to connect.
