The Leviathan is a massive, tentacled Necromorph encountered in Chapter 7 within the Ishimura's asteroid mining operation. It's a zero-gravity encounter that requires precise Kinesis usage.
Location:
Mining Deck, Asteroid Processing Chamber.
Attack Patterns:
- Tentacle Slam: Swings its large tentacles at Isaac.
- Projectile Spit: Spits explosive sacs from its mouth.
- Grab Attack: Attempts to grab Isaac with a tentacle for heavy damage.
Strategy:
- Phase 1 (Tentacles): The Leviathan will extend several tentacles, each with a glowing yellow sac. Your primary goal is to destroy these sacs. Use your Plasma Cutter or Line Gun for precise shots. When it spits explosive sacs, use Kinesis to grab them and throw them back at the glowing sacs on its tentacles. This deals significant damage.
- Phase 2 (Mouth): After destroying all tentacles, the Leviathan will open its mouth, revealing a large, glowing core. This is its main weak point. Unload your most powerful weapons (Contact Beam, Pulse Rifle grenade) into the core. Be wary of its projectile attacks during this phase.
- Repeat: The Leviathan will retreat and regrow its tentacles, repeating the cycle. Continue to destroy the tentacles and then attack the core until it's defeated.
Recommended Weapons:
- Plasma Cutter: For precise tentacle shots.
- Line Gun: For wide-beam tentacle damage.
- Contact Beam/Pulse Rifle: For high damage on the core.
Tips:
- Stay mobile in zero-gravity to avoid tentacle slams.
- Prioritize throwing the explosive sacs back at the tentacles; it's very ammo efficient.
