Tentacle Necromorphs

Tentacle Necromorphs are not independent entities in the same way as other Necromorphs. Instead, they are often extensions of larger, unseen Necromorph masses or are embedded within the ship's infrastructure. They typically emerge from walls, floors, or ceilings, and their primary attack is a swift, sweeping lash that can cover a significant area. These tentacles are often armored or have specific weak points that must be targeted to disable them. Their presence often sals a more dangerous encounter or a puzzle that requires their removal.

Appearance: These Necromorphs manifest as thick, fleshy tentacles, often segmented and covered in a leathery or chitinous hide. They can vary in color, but are typically a sickly, pale hue. They emerge from openings in the environment and move with a sudden, whip-like motion.

Combat Strategies:

Observe and Wait: The most crucial step is to observe the tentacle's attack pattern. They usually have a brief wind-up period before they lash out. Wait for this wind-up and then dodge.
Target Weak Points: Many tentacles have glowing, pulsating weak points, often at their base or along their length. These are the most vulnerable areas. Use precise weapons like the Plasma Cutter to target these points.
Stasis is Your Friend: If a tentacle is too fast to dodge or you need to create an opening to attack its weak point, use your Stasis module. A well-timed Stasis blast will freeze the tentacle, allowing you to safely attack it.
Environmental Awareness: Be mindful of your surroundings. Tentacles often appear in areas with limited space or multiple attack vectors. Try to position yourself so you have a clear line of sight to the weak point and an escape route.
Weapon Choice: Weapons that excel at precision damage are ideal. The Plasma Cutter is excellent for hitting small weak points. The Line Gun can also be effective if its beam can be aled with the weak spot.
Destroying the Source: In some cases, destroying the tentacle might involve destroying a larger Necromorph mass or a specific environmental object that it is connected to. Pay attention to the context of the encounter.
Kinesis for Obstacles: Sometimes, tentacles might emerge in areas where you need to use Kinesis to move objects. You may need to disable the tentacle first before you can interact with the environment.

Locations: Tentacle Necromorphs are often found in areas where the Ishimura's structure has been compromised or where Necromorph infestation is particularly dense. This can include ventilation shafts, maintenance tunnels, or areas where the hull has been breached.

When to Engage: Treat tentacle encounters as environmental puzzles. They are not enemies to be rushed, but rather obstacles to be overcome with patience and precision. Always be prepared to dodge and use Stasis.
