Collecting Text and Audio Logs is essential for unlocking achievements and side missions in Dead Space Remake. There are 188 Logs available, far exceeding the 150 needed for achievements. Logs also trigger side content, such as those related to Nicole Brennan, which can be found by exploring thoroughly.

For two Achievements, you need to collect 75 and then 150 Text/Audio Logs. There are actually 188 different Logs to find throughout the game, giving many opportunities to locate the 150 needed. Collected Logs carry over into NG+.

The Dead Space Remake also introduces side content in the form of three Side Missions that are unlockable when you interact with certain audio and text logs related to key characters like Nicole Brennan.

  • First Text Log: In the Flight Lounge, on a bench near a “Welcome Aboard” Sign.
  • Audio Log (Chapter 2): In Dr. Kyne's office area, follow a corridor that loops behind and check the toilets to find it.

One side mission, "Scientific Methods," can be started during Chapter 2 after lifting the quarantine lockdown in the Main Lab. Near the operation table in the middle of the room, you can find Nicole's office, and collecting an audio log on the table will trigger the side mission.
