Tips & Secrets

The Dead Space Remake introduces several new mechanics and changes from the original, enhancing the horror experience. The "Intensity Director" dynamically alters ambience and enemy spawns, while new side quests and altered layouts offer fresh challenges. Efficient resource management, especially Power Nodes, is crucial for upgrading your gear.

  • Intensity Director: The Remake features an "Intensity Director" that adds random ambience, such as Necromorph sounds, flickering lights, and malfunctioning vents. It can also trigger random Necromorph encounters when re-entering rooms or halls, diminishing your sense of safety but offering opportunities to farm for achievements, ammo, or credits.
  • Enemy Spawns: A set number of enemies spawn when you first enter a room. Once cleared, no new enemies will appear unless new objectives are completed in that room, which can trigger scripted enemy spawns.
  • Power Nodes: Power Nodes are essential for upgrading your gear. You can collect 76 Power Nodes physically in a playthrough and purchase additional ones from the Store for 10,000 Credits each. A total of 189 Power Nodes are needed to max out all upgrades.
  • Weapon Upgrades: Focus on using Credits to buy Power Nodes once weapon upgrades are no longer available for purchase.
  • Suit Upgrades: There are still several Suits to purchase, which can be quite expensive.
  • One-Weapon Playthrough: Using only one weapon, such as the Plasma Cutter, can be a viable strategy, especially on harder difficulties like Impossible Mode. This conserves ammo, as ammo drops are reduced, and focuses resources on a single, powerful weapon. However, the Plasma Cutter is disadvantageous against certain Necromorphs like Swarmers, Guardians, or Dividers.
  • Security Clearance: New Security Clearance doors are scattered around the Ishimura, requiring specific clearance levels to access.
  • Side Quests: The Remake includes new side quests to complete.
