Characters & Builds

Dear Esther does not feature traditional 'characters' in the sense of playable avatars with customizable builds or skill trees. You play as an unnamed, silent protagonist whose identity is intentionally ambiguous and part of the game's central mystery. The 'characters' of the story are primarily revealed through the narrator's fragmented letters and the environmental storytelling.
