In Deathloop, your chosen Slab powers are not just tools; they are the foundation of your combat and traversal style. Combining different Slabs and their upgrades can create powerful synergies that drastically alter how you approach encounters, allowing for highly specialized builds. Understanding these synergies is key to mastering the loop and efficiently taking down the Visionaries.
Core Slab Concepts:
- Active Slabs: These are the powers you equip and actively use, such as Shift, Aether, Nexus, and Pyromania.
- Slab Upgrades: Each Slab can be upgraded through Residue, offering new functionalities or enhancing existing ones. For example, Shift can be upgraded to allow aerial redirection or to chain teleports.
- Synergy: The true power comes from combining the effects of different Slabs, or by using a Slab's upgraded abilities in conjunction with another.
Example Build: The Ghost Infiltrator
This build focuses on stealth, evasion, and precision elimination.
- Primary Slab: Aether. Upgrades like Spectral Projection (creating a decoy) and Ghost (longer invisibility duration) are essential.
- Secondary Slab: Shift. The basic teleport is crucial for repositioning, escaping detection, or reaching vantage points. Upgrades like Air Shift can be useful for verticality.
- Synergy: Activate Aether to become invisible, then use Shift to silently move behind an enemy or a group of enemies. A well-timed melee attack or silenced gunshot can take them down without raising an alarm. Spectral Projection can be used to draw attention away from your position, allowing you to reposition or escape.
Example Build: The Crowd Controller
This build excels at disabling multiple enemies at once, creating openings for quick eliminations or escapes.
- Primary Slab: Nexus. The base ability chains enemies together, making them vulnerable to a single attack. Upgrades like Shifting Nexus (teleporting enemies) or Explosive Nexus (causing chain reactions) are highly effective.
- Secondary Slab: Pyromania. While risky, Pyromania can clear out groups of enemies caught in a Nexus chain or provide area denial.
- Synergy: Use Nexus to link a group of enemies, then detonate the chain with a powerful weapon or a well-placed Pyromania blast. This can instantly neutralize a significant threat, allowing you to focus on more pressing targets or escape a dangerous situation.
