Post-Game Content & Replayability

Congratulations, Colt! You've broken the loop, or perhaps chosen to embrace it. But the journey on Blackreef doesn't end with the credits. Deathloop offers a surprising amount of depth and replayability, encouraging you to delve back into its stylish world with new objectives, challenges, and a deeper understanding of its intricate systems.

The Golden Loop: Embracing the Cycle

Even after achieving one of the endings, the game actively encourages you to continue playing. This is often referred to as the "Golden Loop," where you can refine your strategies, experiment with different loadouts, and hunt down every last secret Blackreef holds. Think of it as a New Game+ without the explicit label.

Refining Your Perfect Loop

  • Optimal Trinket & Slab Loadouts: With all Slabs unlocked and a vast array of Trinkets at your disposal, the post-game is the perfect time to craft truly specialized builds. Experiment with combinations like Shift (Reach/Swapper) for unparalleled mobility, paired with Aether (Ghost/Phase) for stealthy assassinations. Don't forget weapon Trinkets like Sure Shot for increased accuracy or Hailfire for faster projectile speed on certain weapons.
  • Weapon Mastery: Each weapon has unique properties and optimal uses. Dedicate loops to mastering specific firearms like the Fourpounder for one-shot kills, the Strelak 50-50 for close-quarters devastation, or the silenced LIMP-10 for stealth. Look for rare variants with enhanced perks, often dropped by Visionaries or found in secret locations.
  • Visionary Speedruns: Challenge yourself to eliminate all eight Visionaries in a single day with increasing efficiency. Can you complete the "Perfect Loop" (eliminating all Visionaries in a single day) in under 30 minutes? This requires meticulous planning of routes, weapon choices, and Slab usage.

Uncovering Blackreef's Deepest Secrets

The island of Blackreef is brimming with hidden lore, secret areas, and challenging puzzles that you might have overlooked during your initial playthrough. The post-game is the ideal time to become a true Blackreef explorer.

Hidden Lore & Environmental Storytelling

  • Character Backstories: Seek out every last note, audio log, and environmental clue related to the Visionaries and their pasts. For example, explore Aleksis Dorsey's manor in Updaam thoroughly to uncover his eccentricities, or delve into Harriet Morse's Hangar in Karl's Bay for insights into her cult.
  • Blackreef's History: Discover more about the AEON Program, the history of the island, and the origins of the loop itself. Many of these details are subtly woven into the environment, requiring keen observation. Pay particular attention to the various research facilities and abandoned outposts.

Challenging Optional Objectives

  • The "Lost in Transmission" Quest: This multi-part quest, often initiated by finding specific radio messages, leads to a deeper understanding of the loop's mechanics and can reveal new perspectives on the game's narrative. Follow the clues diligently, as they often span across different districts and times of day.
  • Unique Weapon & Trinket Hunts: Beyond the standard drops, there are several unique weapons and powerful Trinkets hidden behind environmental puzzles or challenging combat encounters.
    • The Heritage Gun: This modular shotgun/rifle hybrid is found by completing a series of challenges across Blackreef, often involving specific kills or interactions.
    • The Strelak Verso: A unique pistol that can transform into an SMG, acquired by solving a puzzle involving specific targets in Karl's Bay.
    • Legendary Trinkets: Look for Trinkets like Sprinter (increased movement speed) or Deep Pockets (more ammunition) in challenging areas or as rewards for completing specific side objectives.

PvP & Julianna Invasions

One of Deathloop's most dynamic and enduring features is its asymmetrical multiplayer. As Colt, you can be invaded by other players controlling Julianna, or you can choose to step into Julianna's shoes yourself.

Playing as Colt: Defending Against Julianna

  • Mastering PvP Combat: Human Juliannas are far more unpredictable than AI opponents. Learn to anticipate their movements, utilize the environment to your advantage, and adapt your loadout for player-versus-player encounters. Slabs like Aether (Ghost) and Shift (Swapper) are invaluable for evasion and flanking.
  • Strategic Retreats: Don't be afraid to disengage and reposition. Julianna's objective is to kill you, not necessarily to win a direct firefight. Use the element of surprise to your advantage.
  • Identifying Julianna's Spawn Points: Over time, you'll learn common areas where Julianna tends to spawn in each district, allowing you to set traps or prepare for an ambush.

Playing as Julianna: Hunting Colt

  • Unlocking Julianna's Gear: As you play as Julianna, you'll earn experience and unlock new Slabs, Trinkets, and weapon variants for her, allowing for diverse playstyles. Experiment with different combinations to counter various Colt builds.
  • Psychological Warfare: As Julianna, your goal is to disrupt Colt's loop. Use your knowledge of the game's mechanics to set traps, lure Colt into ambushes, and generally make their life difficult. Placing turrets or mines near objective points can be highly effective.
  • Environmental Awareness: Julianna has access to the entire district. Use rooftops, tunnels, and hidden paths to gain the upper hand. The Nexus Slab (Influence) can be incredibly powerful for linking multiple Eternalists to Colt, leading to quick eliminations.
  • Earning Rewards: Successfully eliminating Colts as Julianna earns you valuable Residuum, which can be used to infuse Colt's gear, and unique cosmetic items for Julianna.

Achieving 100% Completion

For the completionists, Deathloop offers a robust set of achievements and trophies that encourage exploring every facet of the game.

  • All Discoveries: Ensure you've uncovered every Visionary lead, weapon lead, and character discovery. This often involves revisiting areas at different times of day and interacting with every possible object.
  • All Trinkets & Slabs: Collect every weapon Trinket, character Trinket, and Slab upgrade. Some Slab upgrades are hidden behind specific challenges or Visionary kills.
  • Specific Challenge Achievements: Many achievements require performing specific actions, such as killing all Visionaries in a single day without dying, or completing certain side quests. Consult the in-game achievement list for a full breakdown.
