Boss Strategies for Each Archstone
Facing the formidable bosses of Demon's Souls is the ultimate test of a Slayer of Demons' prowess. Each Archstone presents unique challenges, demanding different strategies and an understanding of their attack patterns. In the Boletarian Palace (1-1), the Phalanx boss is a swarm encounter. The key here is to focus on the larger, armored soldiers while avoiding the smaller, numerous ones. Utilizing a weapon with a wide swing arc, such as a Great Sword, can help clear out the smaller enemies efficiently. Prioritize destroying the larger enemies as they are the ones that drop the key item to progress.
Moving to the Gates of Boletaria (1-2), the Tower Knight presents a more direct combat challenge. This colossal foe wields a massive spear and can summon archers to rain down projectiles. The most effective strategy involves staying close to the Tower Knight's legs, as many of his attacks will miss. Periodically, he will rear up, creating an opening to attack his legs. Once his legs are sufficiently damaged, he will fall, allowing you to attack his head for critical damage. Be wary of his shockwave attack, which can be dodged by rolling away. The archers on the ramparts can be dealt with by carefully navigating the arena or by using ranged attacks if available.
In the Stonefang Tunnel (2-1), the Armored Spider awaits. This boss utilizes fire-based attacks and can spit webs to slow the player. The arena features several platforms and a central pit. The Armored Spider's weak point is its abdomen. You can bait its frontal attacks and then quickly circle around to strike its rear. Alternatively, if you have access to ranged attacks, you can chip away at its health from a safe distance. Be mindful of its molten rock projectiles, which leave damaging pools on the ground. The key is to manage your positioning and exploit the openings after its major attacks.
The Tower of Latria (3-1) introduces the Fool's Idol. This boss is known for its deceptive tactics, creating multiple illusions of itself. The real Fool's Idol can be identified by its distinct chanting sound and the fact that it will cast spells. The illusions do not cast spells and will dissipate after a few hits. Focus on identifying the true Fool's Idol and attacking it. Be aware of its powerful magic attacks, including lightning bolts and soul projectiles. Staying mobile and using the environment for cover is crucial. Once the true Fool's Idol is defeated, the illusions will vanish.
Finally, the Shrine of Storms (4-1) features the Adjudicator. This boss is a large, bird-like creature that can regenerate health. The Adjudicator's weak point is the sword embedded in its back. Players must first attack its legs to knock it down, then quickly climb onto its back to strike the sword. It will periodically summon smaller enemies that can heal the Adjudicator. Prioritize eliminating these healing enemies before they can fully restore the boss's health. The Adjudicator also has a powerful dive attack that can be dodged by rolling to the side.
