Completing Demon's Souls unlocks the challenging New Game+ (NG+) mode, where you retain your character's level and gear but face a significantly more difficult world. This mode is not just about increased challenge; it's also your primary opportunity to explore the game's multiple endings and achieve true completion.

New Game+ Mechanics: Enemies in NG+ have increased health and deal more damage. Bosses are tougher, and certain enemy placements may change. The core gameplay remains the same, but your mastery of mechanics and optimized build are crucial for success. NG+ is the ideal time to hunt for missed items, spells, miracles, and to experiment with different weapon upgrade paths.

The Two Main Endings: Demon's Souls presents two distinct endings, determined by your final choice after defeating the final boss, the Old One.

1. Slay the Old One: This is often considered the 'good' ending. After defeating the Old One, you have the option to slay it. This act liberates the world from its slumber, but the consequences are uncertain. The Maiden in Black implies that this disruption of the natural order might lead to unforeseen future calamities.
2. Become the New Old One: In this ending, you choose not to slay the Old One. Instead, you absorb its power and become its successor, ushering in a new era of slumber for the world. This ending is often seen as more tragic or cyclical, perpetuating the status quo.

Influencing the Endings: While the final choice is the direct trigger, your overall playthrough can influence the narrative context. Character Tendency plays a subtle role; a more 'pure' character might lean towards slaying the Old One, while a more 'corrupted' one might embrace its power. However, the game does not strictly gate these endings based on tendency alone.

Post-Game Goals: Beyond achieving both endings, NG+ is for completionists. This includes acquiring all unique Demon Souls, forging all unique weapons, learning all spells and miracles, collecting all armor sets and rings, and obtaining all trophies. The increased difficulty of NG+ makes these collection goals more challenging and rewarding.
