Demon's Souls are unique items dropped by defeated bosses, crucial for crafting powerful weapons and learning advanced spells or miracles. Do not consume these souls if it's your first playthrough, as they offer significant strategic value. Understanding how to utilize these souls, and the nature of bosses themselves, is key to mastering Demon's Souls.
Understanding Demon's Souls
- Purpose: Demon's Souls are obtained from defeated bosses. They should not be consumed, especially on a first playthrough.
- Crafting: They can be given to Blacksmith Ed to create unique weapons. You must first provide him with the Red Hot Demon's Soul for him to upgrade weapons with other Demon's Souls.
- Spells & Miracles: Demon's Souls can be used by Sage Freke, Yuria, The Witch, or Saint Urbain to teach you Magic spells and Miracles.
Bosses and Combat
Bosses are powerful enemies with a prominent health bar that do not respawn after being killed in your world. You can re-engage them in another player's world, but their unique drops are obtainable only once per playthrough in your own world. Your success against bosses depends on your equipment, spells, tactics, and skill.
- Body Form vs. Soul Form: In body form, you have full health and can wear two rings. In soul form, you may inflict slightly more damage. The optimal form depends on the specific boss and your combat strategy.
- Boss Strategies:
- Armor Spider: To reach the Armor Spider, navigate through areas with Scale Miners, activate a lever to unlock a shortcut to Blacksmith Ed, and another lever to remove lava before passing through a fog door to the boss elevator.
- Maneater (Implied): After passing the second fog door, approach the ballista from behind to deactivate it. Climb the tower, cross a corridor, and kill the man at the end who claims he won't cause trouble. He lies and will revive the next boss if left alive. Grab the Prison of Hope Special Key behind him to free Sage Freke, the Visionary.
Important Items & Locations
- Brushwood Armor: Find this heavy armor set at the bottom of a pit. Bring a Ring of Herculean Strength to carry it. In the Remake, heavy items can be sent to storage if examined and left behind.
