Gambit Basics & Objectives

Gambit in the 2026 Expansion presents a thrilling blend of PvE combat and PvP intrusion, demanding a strategic approach to both phases. The primary objective is to defeat waves of enemies to collect Motes, which are then banked to summon a powerful boss. Each player can carry up to 15 Motes at a time. Collecting and banking 10 Motes at once summons a smaller blocker, while banking 15 Motes summons a larger, more formidable blocker. These blockers impede the enemy team's Mote collection and boss summoning. A crucial mechanic is the Primeval phase, where the first team to summon their Primeval wins. However, the enemy team can invade your arena during this phase, disrupting your efforts. Successfully defeating an invader grants your team a small boost to Primeval damage. Conversely, if an invader defeats your team, they gain a significant advantage. The invasion portal opens when the enemy team has summoned their Primeval or when your team has banked 40 Motes.

Understanding the flow of Mote collection is vital. aim to collect Motes efficiently without dying, as dropped Motes are lost. Prioritize banking Motes in increments of 10 or 15 to consistently apply pressure with blockers. The different types of blockers – the Goblin (5 Motes), the Hobgoblin (10 Motes), and the Ogre (15 Motes) – each have unique strengths and weaknesses. The Ogre, for instance, is particularly effective at locking down Mote collection points. Communication within your fireteam is paramount. Designate roles for Mote collection, blocker management, and invasion defense. A common pitfall is focusing solely on PvE combat and neglecting the PvP aspect. An enemy Guardian invading can quickly dismantle your team's progress. Learning to identify the invasion signal and react swiftly is key. Furthermore, mastering the mechanics of the Primeval boss itself is essential. Each Primeval has unique attack patterns and vulnerabilities that must be exploited to secure victory. For example, the Taken Servitor Primeval is highly resistant to direct damage but vulnerable to specific elemental types, requiring a coordinated team effort to overcome.
