Installation Process

Destiny 2 is available on multiple platforms: PC (Steam), PlayStation, and Xbox. The installation process is straightforward:

  1. Download the Game: Visit your platform's digital store (Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store) and search for Destiny 2. Download the base game, which is free-to-play, or any purchased expansions.

  2. System Requirements (PC): Ensure your PC meets the minimum or recommended system requirements for optimal performance. These can be found on the Steam store page.
  3. Updates: Once installed, the game will likely require significant updates. Allow these to download and install completely before launching.

Account Setup & Bungie.net

Your Bungie.net account is central to your Destiny 2 experience. It's used for:

  • Cross-Save: Link your platform accounts to Bungie.net to enable cross-save, allowing you to play your Guardian and progress across different platforms.
  • Account Management: Manage your profile, privacy settings, and linked accounts.
  • Community Features: Access forums, find fireteams, and participate in community events.

Creating Your Guardian

Upon first launch, you'll be prompted to create your Guardian. Choose from three distinct classes:

  • Titan: Heavily armored warriors focused on defense and melee combat.
  • Hunter: Agile and precise combatants, excelling at ranged combat and mobility.
  • Warlock: Masters of the Light and Darkness, wielding powerful abilities and elemental magic.

You'll also select a race (Human, Awoken, Exo) and customize your Guardian's appearance. Don't worry too much about this; you can change your appearance later through the character screen.

Game Editions

Destiny 2 offers a free-to-play base experience, but expansions and specific content are often tied to paid editions. These typically include:

  • New Light (Free-to-Play): Access to the core game, patrol zones, Crucible, Gambit, and select legacy campaigns.
  • Expansion Bundles: These include the latest major expansions (e.g., The Witch Queen, Lightfall) and often come with season passes for the current year.
  • Deluxe Editions: Often include the expansion, season passes, and exclusive cosmetic items or early access to certain gear.

For new players, starting with the free-to-play version is recommended to get a feel for the game before committing to purchases.
