Public Events are dynamic, open-world activities that occur regularly in patrol zones across all destinations. They are marked on your map with a blue icon and a timer. Participating in them grants Glimmer, XP, and sometimes Legendary gear. Most Public Events have a 'Heroic' trigger, which, if activated, makes the event more challenging but also significantly increases the rewards.
How to Trigger Heroic Public Events:
Each Public Event has a specific, often hidden, objective that must be completed to trigger its Heroic version. Here are a few examples:
- Cabal Excavation: Destroy the Cabal drill before it finishes drilling.
- Fallen Glimmer Extraction: Destroy all three small Glimmer piles that spawn around the main Glimmer extractor.
- Taken Blight: Stand in the small blights to gain a buff, then shoot the large central blight. Repeat until it's destroyed.
- Warsat Down: Destroy the three small 'Shanks' that spawn around the Warsat after each wave of enemies.
Always aim for Heroic Public Events when possible, as the rewards are much better. Look for other Guardians participating and try to coordinate.
