The Power Level (PL) grind is a core aspect of Destiny 2's seasonal progression. Understanding how to efficiently increase your PL is crucial for accessing endgame content.

Phases of the Grind:

  1. Soft Cap: Reach this by playing any activity and equipping higher PL gear. Blue (Rare) drops will consistently increase your PL.
  2. Powerful Cap: Once you hit the Soft Cap, only 'Powerful Gear' rewards will increase your PL. These are marked with a gold star in the Director. Focus on weekly challenges (e.g., 3 Strikes, 3 Crucible matches, Gambit, Hawthorne's clan engram).
  3. Pinnacle Cap: After the Powerful Cap, only 'Pinnacle Gear' rewards will increase your PL. These are from the most challenging activities (e.g., Raids, Dungeons, Grandmaster Nightfalls, 100k Nightfall score, specific seasonal challenges).

Tips for Efficient Grinding:

  • Start with Powerful: Always complete your Powerful rewards before your Pinnacle rewards each week, as Pinnacle rewards give larger boosts.
  • Use Multiple Characters: If you have multiple characters of the same class, you can transfer high-PL weapons to boost your other characters faster.
  • Artifact Bonus: Your Seasonal Artifact provides a temporary PL bonus that helps you reach higher activity requirements.
  • Don't Infuse Constantly: Only infuse your favorite gear when you've reached a significant PL increase, as infusion costs materials.

The Power Grind resets each season, so be prepared to repeat the process.
