Upon starting Destiny, your first task is to create your Guardian. You'll choose from three distinct classes, each with unique abilities and playstyles:
- Hunter: Agile, precise, and masters of ranged combat. Hunters excel at dealing burst damage and evading threats. Their Supers often involve powerful single-target attacks or area-of-effect damage.
- Titan: Resilient, strong, and frontline defenders. Titans are adept at soaking up damage and controlling the battlefield. Their Supers typically involve powerful melee attacks, defensive barriers, or area denial.
- Warlock: Mystical, intelligent, and wielders of cosmic power. Warlocks specialize in elemental damage, healing, and crowd control. Their Supers can range from devastating area attacks to supportive buffs for their fireteam.
Consider your preferred playstyle when making your choice. While you can create multiple characters, your first Guardian will be your primary focus. You'll also select your character's race (Awoken, Human, or Exo) and customize their appearance. These choices are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay.
