Evilities
Evilities are passive abilities that characters can equip to significantly enhance their combat prowess, utility, or even resource generation. Understanding and optimizing your Evility loadouts is crucial for tackling Disgaea 6's toughest challenges, especially in the post-game.
There are two main types of Evilities: Unique Evilities and Common Evilities. Unique Evilities are typically character-specific or class-specific, offering powerful, often build-defining effects. Common Evilities are more general and can be learned and equipped by almost any character, providing flexible stat boosts, utility, or tactical advantages.
Acquiring Evilities
Evilities can be acquired through several methods:
- Character/Class Unlocks: Many Unique Evilities are inherent to specific characters (e.g., Zed's "Super Reincarnation") or classes (e.g., Warrior's "Wild Cry," Martial Artist's "Fury," Witch's "Magic Moderation"). These are typically unlocked as you progress through the story or level up the respective class.
- Skill Shop Purchases: A vast majority of Common Evilities can be purchased from the Skill Shop in the Pocket Netherworld. As you progress through the story and unlock new character classes, more Evilities will become available for purchase using HL (Hell). Prioritize purchasing Evilities that complement your main attackers or support units early on.
- Super Reincarnation: This powerful mechanic allows characters to gain new Evility slots and sometimes unlock new Evilities. Repeated Super Reincarnations are essential for maximizing a character's potential and Evility capacity.
- Quest Rewards: Certain quests from the Quest Shop may reward specific Evilities upon completion. Always check quest rewards for valuable additions to your arsenal.
- Item World: While not a direct source of Evilities, the Item World is crucial for leveling up items, which in turn can provide stat boosts that make certain Evilities more effective. Additionally, some Item World routes or specific Item Gods might drop rare items that contain unique Evilities when extracted.
Equipping Evilities
To equip Evilities, navigate to the "Evilities" option within a character's status menu. Each character has a limited number of Evility slots and a total Evility Cost capacity. More powerful Evilities tend to have higher costs, so you'll need to carefully balance your choices. Evility slots and capacity can be increased through Super Reincarnation.
Recommended Early-Game Evilities (Common)
For players just starting out or looking to optimize their early-game progression, consider these readily available and impactful Common Evilities:
- Mana Scavenger: Increases Mana gained by 20%. Crucial for quickly unlocking new skills and Evilities. Purchase from the Skill Shop early.
- EXP Scavenger: Increases EXP gained by 20%. Speeds up character leveling significantly. Also available at the Skill Shop.
- Stat Boosters (e.g., ATK +5%, DEF +5%): Simple but effective for boosting your main damage dealers or tanks. These are generally cheap at the Skill Shop.
- Sure-Fire: Increases Hit by 20%. Useful for characters struggling with accuracy, especially against high-Evasion enemies.
- Magic Conversion: Converts a percentage of INT into ATK or vice-versa. Excellent for hybrid attackers or to shore up a character's weaker offensive stat.
Strategic Evility Combinations
The true power of Evilities comes from combining them strategically. Here are a few examples of powerful synergies:
- Hyper Offense Build:
- Wild Cry (Warrior Unique): +10% stats per adjacent enemy.
- Fury (Martial Artist Unique): +25% ATK per counter.
- Ambush (Common): +20% damage on first attack in battle.
- Critical Point (Common): +50% Critical Damage.
- Strategy: Position your Warrior/Martial Artist in the thick of enemies, allowing "Wild Cry" to activate. Use "Fury" to capitalize on counter-attacks, and ensure their first attack benefits from "Ambush" and "Critical Point" for massive burst damage.
- SP Management Build (for Mages/Healers):
- Magic Moderation (Witch Unique): -50% SP consumption for Specials.
- SP Charger (Common): Recovers 5% SP at the start of the turn.
- Mana Flow (Common): Recovers 10% SP when defeating an enemy.
- Strategy: This setup allows your magic users to cast powerful spells more frequently without running out of SP, especially useful in longer battles or when grinding.
Remember that many story developments will reward you with related Evilities, so pay attention to character unlocks and narrative progression for new options.
