Item Enhancement & Training Bonus
Beyond simply leveling up your items in the Item World, you can further augment their power through Item Enhancement and the Training Bonus system. These mechanics are crucial for pushing your gear to its absolute limits, especially when tackling the most challenging post-game content.
Understanding Training Bonus
The Training Bonus is a direct stat increase applied to an item based on how many Item Generals, Kings, and Gods you defeat within its Item World. Each time you defeat one of these special enemies, your item accrues a "Training Bonus" value, which translates into a percentage increase of its base stats. This bonus is distinct from the regular item level stat gains and can significantly boost an item's overall power.
- Item General: Appears every 10 floors (e.g., Floor 10, 20, 30). Defeating an Item General contributes to the Training Bonus.
- Item King: Appears every 30 floors (e.g., Floor 30, 60, 90). Item Kings provide a larger boost to the Training Bonus than Generals.
- Item God: Appears on Floor 100. Defeating the Item God provides the largest single boost to the Training Bonus and is essential for maximizing an item's potential.
The cumulative effect of these defeats can lead to massive stat increases, making even a common item incredibly powerful if fully enhanced.
Item Enhancement: The Item Assembly
While the Training Bonus accumulates automatically as you progress through the Item World, you can also actively enhance items through the Item Assembly. This feature allows you to spend Item Points (IP) to directly increase specific stats on an item. Think of it as fine-tuning your gear to perfectly suit your needs.
Accessing the Item Assembly
The Item Assembly is located within the Item Worlder's menu in the Pocket Netherworld. Speak to the Item Worlder and select the "Item Assembly" option.
Enhancement Steps:
- Select Item: Choose the item you wish to enhance from your inventory. Only items that have been through the Item World (even just one floor) can be enhanced.
- Choose Stat: You'll be presented with a list of stats associated with the item (e.g., ATK, DEF, INT, SPD, HP, SP). Select the stat you want to boost.
- Spend Item Points (IP): Each enhancement costs Item Points. The more you enhance a stat, and the higher the item's current stats, the more IP it will cost.
- Confirm Enhancement: After selecting the stat and confirming the IP cost, the chosen stat will increase. You can repeat this process as many times as you have IP and desire to enhance.
Strategies for Maximizing Item Enhancement:
- Focus on Key Stats: Prioritize enhancing the stats most relevant to the character using the item. For a physical attacker, focus on ATK. For a mage, INT.
- IP Farming: Item Points are crucial for enhancement. The best way to farm IP is by clearing floors in the Item World, especially by defeating Item Generals, Kings, and Gods. Equipping characters with the "IP Collector" unique innocent (found on certain items) can also increase IP gain.
- Combine with Training Bonus: Item Enhancement works in conjunction with the Training Bonus. A fully leveled item with a high Training Bonus will see even greater gains from IP enhancements due to the percentage-based nature of the Training Bonus.
- Legendary Items First: While you can enhance any item, focusing your IP on Legendary items is generally more efficient due to their higher base stats and potential for greater growth.
- Reincarnation Consideration: If you plan to reincarnate an item (a more advanced strategy), remember that its stats will reset, but the Training Bonus progress remains. Plan your IP spending accordingly.
By diligently traversing the Item World to defeat its rulers and strategically spending your hard-earned Item Points, you can transform even humble equipment into legendary artifacts capable of withstanding the most formidable foes in the Disgaea universe.
