This guide will navigate you through the treacherous waters of Kingsparrow Island, offering pathways for both stealthy precision and decisive action. Remember, your choices here will determine the ultimate outcome of your tale.
Approaching Kingsparrow Island
Your journey begins on the shores of Kingsparrow Island, a desolate yet heavily fortified stronghold. The initial approach offers two primary paths:
- Direct Assault (High Chaos): If you prefer a more confrontational approach, you can engage the guards directly on the beach. Be prepared for heavy resistance. Several guards patrol this area, and a watchtower overlooks the landing zone.
- Stealthy Infiltration (Low Chaos): For a ghost-like entry, immediately after disembarking, look to your left. There's a small, submerged pipe leading under the rock face. Use Blink or careful swimming to enter this pipe. It will lead you to a secluded alcove, bypassing the initial guard patrols entirely.
Regardless of your chosen path, your immediate objective is to reach the main gate of the fortress.
Infiltrating the Fortress Walls
Once past the initial beach, you'll face the formidable outer walls of Kingsparrow Fortress. Several options present themselves:
The Main Gate Approach
- Frontal Assault: The main gate is heavily guarded by multiple Tallboys and numerous guards. Engaging them directly is a high-risk, high-reward strategy. use your full arsenal of powers and weapons.
- Stealth Bypass (Left Side): To the left of the main gate, there's a small, broken section of the wall. Use Blink to reach a higher ledge and then drop down into a less patrolled area inside the walls. Be wary of a single guard patrolling this section.
- Stealth Bypass (Right Side - Low Chaos Recommended): On the right side of the main gate, a series of pipes and ledges allows for a more discreet entry. Use Blink to navigate these structures, eventually leading you to an open window or a less guarded rooftop access point.
Inside the Courtyard
Once inside the fortress walls, you'll find yourself in a large courtyard. This area is heavily patrolled by guards, and often includes a Tallboy or two. Your goal is to reach the main tower where Emily is being held.
- Navigating the Courtyard:
- Rooftops: The rooftops offer an excellent vantage point and a less-patrolled route. Use Blink to ascend to the various rooftops and traverse the courtyard above the guards' heads.
- Ground Level (Stealth): If staying on the ground, use cover extensively. Use Dark Vision to mark enemy positions and plan your movements. There are several crates and structures that provide adequate concealment.
- Ground Level (Combat): Prepare for intense firefights. Focus fire on the Tallboys first, as they pose the greatest threat. use grenades and spring razors to thin out groups of guards.
- Collectibles & Resources:
- Runes: Look for a Rune hidden near a broken fountain in the center of the courtyard. Another can be found on a higher ledge overlooking the main entrance to the tower.
- Bone Charms: A Bone Charm is often located in one of the smaller guard shacks or storage rooms around the courtyard's perimeter.
- Ammunition & Elixirs: Scavenge thoroughly. Guard posts and crates often contain bolts, bullets, and health elixirs.
Ascending the Main Tower
The main tower is where Emily is imprisoned, and where you will confront the final antagonist. The ascent is fraught with danger.
Tower Entrance
The main entrance to the tower is typically guarded by several soldiers. Consider these options:
- Direct Confrontation: Engage the guards head-on. Be prepared for a sustained fight in confined spaces.
- Side Entrance (Stealth): Look for a smaller, less obvious entrance on the side of the tower, often accessible via a series of ledges or a broken window. This usually leads to a less guarded stairwell.
Inside the Tower
The tower's interior consists of multiple levels, each with its own challenges.
- Guards and Traps: Expect numerous guards, often including elite soldiers. Keep an eye out for tripwires and arc pylons, especially on higher floors. Use Dark Vision to detect these hazards.
- Elevator Shaft: A central elevator shaft runs through the tower. You can use Blink to ascend rapidly by teleporting between ledges within the shaft, bypassing several floors of guards. Alternatively, the elevator itself can be used, but it's often guarded at each stop.
- Key Items:
- Keys: Keys to various locked doors or cells may be found on patrolling officers or in small offices on different floors.
- Notes/Lore: Keep an eye out for notes that provide additional lore or hints about the final confrontation.
The Climax: Emily's Location and the Final Confrontation
As you near the top of the tower, you will find Emily. The exact circumstances of your final confrontation will depend on your chaos level and previous choices.
Low Chaos Path
If you have maintained a low chaos playthrough, the final confrontation will be less violent and offer more opportunities for a non-lethal resolution. Emily will likely be in a more stable condition, and the antagonist's forces will be less numerous.
- Emily's State: Emily will be distressed but generally unharmed.
- Antagonist's Presence: The antagonist will be present, but perhaps less heavily guarded.
- Non-Lethal Options: Look for environmental opportunities to incapacitate the antagonist without killing them. This might involve sabotaging equipment or luring them into a trap.
High Chaos Path
In a high chaos playthrough, the situation will be far more dire. Emily will be in greater peril, and the antagonist will be prepared for a brutal fight.
- Emily's State: Emily may be in immediate danger, potentially held at knifepoint or in a precarious position.
- Antagonist's Presence: The antagonist will be heavily guarded, and the area will be a battleground.
