Finding the Missing Villagers
This section details the steps required to locate the missing villagers from Cyseal, a crucial part of advancing the main questline and uncovering the mysteries surrounding the Source. Be prepared for combat and environmental puzzles.
Initial Investigation and Clues
Your journey to find the missing villagers begins by gathering information in Cyseal. Speak with the townspeople, particularly those who might have witnessed their disappearance or have knowledge of the surrounding areas.
- Talk to Captain Aureus: He will direct you to the lighthouse area, suggesting that the missing fishermen might have been taken by Orcs.
- Examine the Lighthouse: Head to the lighthouse located to the east of Cyseal. You'll find evidence of a struggle and tracks leading away from the area.
- Follow the Tracks: The tracks lead towards the northern beaches. Be wary of roaming undead and other creatures in this region.
The Orc Beach and the Cave Entrance
The trail eventually leads you to a beach infested with Orcs. This area is a significant combat encounter, so ensure your party is well-equipped and rested.
- Combat Strategy: The Orcs often employ ranged attackers and melee brutes. Focus on eliminating the ranged threats first to reduce incoming damage. Utilize elemental spells and crowd control to manage the melee fighters. Consider using environmental hazards like oil barrels if available.
- Locating the Cave: After clearing the Orcs on the beach, search the northern part of the beach. You will find a hidden cave entrance, often obscured by rocks or foliage. Interaction with the cave entrance will reveal it.
Inside the Cave: The Orc Encampment
The cave is a multi-level dungeon teeming with Orcs and other hostile creatures. The missing villagers are held captive within this complex.
- Navigating the Cave: The cave is generally linear but contains several branching paths that may lead to treasure or additional enemies. Keep an eye on your minimap.
- First Encounter: You'll immediately face more Orcs upon entering. These initial encounters serve as a good warm-up for what's to come.
- The Captives: As you delve deeper, you'll eventually come across a large cavern where the missing villagers are being held. They are typically guarded by a larger group of Orcs, including a chieftain or a powerful shaman.
- Rescue Strategy:
- Stealth Approach (Optional): If you have characters with high Sneaking ability, you might be able to scout the area and position your party advantageously before initiating combat.
- Direct Assault: For most parties, a direct assault is the most straightforward method. Focus fire on the most dangerous enemies first. Area-of-effect spells can be incredibly effective against clustered Orcs.
- Prioritize Healers/Support: If the Orcs have any support units, eliminate them quickly to prevent them from buffing their allies or healing damage.
- After Combat: Once the Orcs are defeated, speak with the rescued villagers. They will express their gratitude and provide some insight into their capture. They will then make their way back to Cyseal.
Reporting Back
With the villagers rescued, your next step is to inform the authorities in Cyseal.
- Return to Cyseal: Fast travel back to Cyseal or walk if you prefer to explore.
- Speak with Captain Aureus: Report your success to Captain Aureus in the Legion Headquarters. He will reward you for your efforts and provide further instructions, potentially advancing other quests related to the Source.
Successfully completing this quest not only saves the villagers but also opens up new areas and questlines, bringing you closer to understanding the larger threat facing Rivellon.
