Shrines: Healing and Teleportation — Dota 2 Guide

Understand Dota 2 Shrines: their locations, healing and mana regeneration effects, and strategic importance as teleportation and sustain points.

Shrines are ancient structures on the map that provide a burst of health and mana regeneration to nearby allied heroes. They also serve as teleportation points.

Location:

  • There are two Shrines in each team's jungle, located deeper within their territory.

Mechanics:

  • Activation: Shrines can be activated by clicking on them.
  • Effect: Provides a large burst of health and mana regeneration over a short duration to all allied heroes in a radius.
  • Cooldown: Each Shrine has a cooldown after activation.
  • Teleportation: Heroes can teleport to allied Shrines using Town Portal Scrolls.
  • Invulnerability: Shrines are invulnerable until a certain point in the game (usually after all Tier 2 towers in a lane are destroyed).

Strategic Importance:

  • Sustain: Shrines are crucial for sustaining heroes in the mid-game, allowing them to quickly heal and replenish mana after fights or pushes without returning to the fountain.
  • Defense: They serve as important defensive teleportation points, allowing heroes to quickly reinforce a threatened lane or base.
  • Offensive Pushes: After taking enemy Tier 2 towers, Shrines can become vulnerable, and destroying them denies the enemy a valuable source of sustain and a teleportation point.
  • Vision: Shrines provide a small amount of vision around them.

Utilizing Shrines effectively for sustain and teleportation is a key aspect of mid-game map control and resource management. Denying enemy Shrines can be a significant advantage.
