Character Development & Progression
Character development and progression in Dragon Age: Inquisition are multifaceted, allowing for deep customization of your Inquisitor and companions. This system empowers players to tailor their characters to specific combat roles and narrative preferences.
Leveling Up: As your characters gain experience through combat, quest completion, and exploration, they will level up. Each level grants attribute points, which can be allocated to increase core stats like Strength, Dexterity, Willpower, and Constitution. These stats directly influence your character's effectiveness in combat and their ability to use certain equipment.
Ability Points: In addition to attribute points, leveling up also awards ability points. These points are spent to unlock new active and passive abilities within a character's respective skill trees. Each class (Mage, Warrior, Rogue) has multiple distinct skill trees, offering a wide array of combat and utility options.
Specializations: Once your Inquisitor reaches a certain level (typically around level 7-10), they gain access to specializations. These are advanced classes that offer powerful, unique abilities and significantly alter a character's playstyle. For example, a Mage can specialize into a Knight-Enchanter, Necromancer, or Riftmaster, each with distinct strengths.
Gear and Equipment: Equipping better weapons, armor, and accessories is a crucial aspect of progression. Looting, purchasing from merchants, and, most importantly, crafting allow you to acquire gear that enhances your stats and provides valuable bonuses. Finding or crafting items with specific enchantments can further refine your character's build.
Perks: The Inquisition itself gains perks through the War Table. These are passive bonuses that benefit the entire Inquisition, such as increased influence gain, improved crafting options, or enhanced scouting capabilities. Strategically choosing Inquisition perks can significantly impact your overall progress.
Companion Progression: Companions also level up and gain ability points, allowing you to customize their builds as well. However, their core class and specialization are fixed. You can influence their effectiveness by equipping them with better gear and choosing abilities that complement your Inquisitor's strengths.
