After the initial cutscenes, you'll be thrust into combat. Follow Cassandra and Leliana, learning how to use your Mark to close small rifts. These rifts spawn demons, so be prepared for a fight. Focus on one demon at a time and use your abilities. The Mark has a cooldown, so time its use strategically. You'll encounter your first companion, Varric, shortly after. Continue through the snowy mountain pass, closing rifts as you go. This teaches you the core mechanic of rift closing and introduces you to basic party combat.
