The final confrontation with Corypheus is a multi-stage marathon that tests your party's endurance and tactical positioning. Corypheus is susceptible to Spirit damage but possesses high resistance to Fire and Electricity; ensure your mages are equipped with Ice or Spirit staves to maximize DPS. Before the fight, visit the Undercroft to craft armor with physical defense and equip Regeneration Potions or Jar of Bees to handle the sustained damage phases.
The encounter is divided into three distinct stages:
- Stage 1 (The Temple): Focus on Corypheus. He teleports frequently and utilizes a sweeping beam attack. Use a "Vanguard" Warrior (like Cassandra or Blackwall) to hold aggro while your rogue (Sera or Varric) maintains distance. When he nears 50% HP, he will retreat up the stairs.
- Stage 2 (Red Lyrium Dragon): You do not fight Corypheus here; you must defeat his Red Lyrium Dragon. The beast is vulnerable to Cold damage. Stay tucked under its hind legs to avoid wing buffet and elemental breath. A Knight-Enchanter Mage is exceptionally strong here for generating constant barriers.
- Stage 3 (The Final Ascent): Corypheus returns with enhanced speed and a barrier. Use abilities like Dispel or Spell Purge to strip his defenses. He will attempt to channel a massive AoE blast; save your Mark of the Rift Focus ability for this moment to interrupt his casting and deal massive burst damage to finish the fight.
For the optimal party, bring a Champion Warrior for invulnerability, a Knight-Enchanter for barrier support, and an Artificer or Assassin Rogue for high single-target damage. Keep your party spread out to minimize the impact of his ground-targeted magical explosions.
