Welcome, Inquisitor! This section will guide you through the critical path of Dragon Age: Inquisition, ensuring you navigate the main storyline effectively. While side quests and exploration are highly encouraged for power and influence, these steps are essential to progressing the narrative.

The Wrath of Heaven

This is your introduction to the world and its immediate crisis. Follow the linear path, learning basic combat and interaction mechanics.

• Objective: Survive the initial attack and reach the Temple of Sacred Ashes.
• Key Actions:
  • Follow Cassandra and Varric through the initial combat encounters.
  • Interact with the glowing rift to close it.
  • After the cutscene, you'll be at Haven. Speak with Leliana and Cullen.
• Important Note: This quest serves as a tutorial. Don't worry about missing anything; the path is straightforward.

The Threat Remains

With the initial chaos settled, it's time to establish the Inquisition and address the growing threat.

• Objective: Gain enough Power to convene the War Table and choose your next destination.
• Power Requirement: 4 Power.
• How to Get Power:
  • Complete side quests in the Hinterlands (e.g., "Praise the Herald of Andraste," "The Horse Master").
  • Close minor rifts found throughout the Hinterlands.
  • Discover new areas and landmarks.
• War Table Operation: Once you have 4 Power, return to Haven and access the War Table. Select "Address the Chantry Conclave" to progress.
• Recommended Exploration: While 4 Power is the minimum, consider exploring the Hinterlands more thoroughly. You can recruit companions like Blackwall (at the crossroads) and Sera (after finding her note in the Redcliffe Farms area, leading to "The Verchiel March" quest).

Calamity

This quest immediately follows "The Threat Remains" and takes you to Val Royeaux.

• Objective: Investigate the Chantry's activities in Val Royeaux.
• Location: Val Royeaux.
• Key Actions:
  • Travel to Val Royeaux via the War Table.
  • Explore the city, speaking with various NPCs.
  • You will encounter the Grand Cleric and witness a demonstration by the Venatori.
  • After the cutscene, you'll meet Vivienne. She can be recruited as a companion here.
• Important Note: Keep an eye out for merchants selling schematics and crafting materials in Val Royeaux.

In Your Heart Shall Burn

The Inquisition faces its first major assault. This quest is a pivotal moment in the early game.

• Objective: Defend Haven from Corypheus's attack.
• Power Requirement: 15 Power.
• Location: Haven.
• Key Actions:
  • You will be tasked with various defensive efforts, including closing rifts and activating trebuchets.
  • Follow the objective markers closely.
  • A major boss fight will occur towards the end of the quest. Ensure your party is well-equipped and has healing potions.
• Strategy: Prioritize closing rifts to reduce enemy numbers. use environmental hazards if available. This quest is largely linear, but effective combat is crucial.
• Consequence: Haven will be destroyed, leading to the establishment of Skyhold.

From the Ashes

Following the destruction of Haven, the Inquisition must find a new home.

• Objective: Establish Skyhold as the new Inquisition headquarters.
• Location: Skyhold.
• Key Actions:
  • Explore Skyhold and speak with your advisors.
  • You will be given a tour and introduced to the various facilities.
  • This quest largely involves cutscenes and dialogue, setting up the next phase of the game.
• New Features: Skyhold unlocks significant new features, including advanced crafting, specialization quests, and more War Table operations. Take some time to familiarize yourself with your new base.
