Dramatic Intros & Finishes
Dragon Ball FighterZ is renowned for its stunning visual fidelity and its ability to perfectly recreate iconic moments from the Dragon Ball anime. Dramatic Intros and Finishes are special, cinematic sequences that trigger under very specific conditions, offering a spectacular homage to the source material. Mastering how to activate these not only adds flair to your matches but also provides a deeper appreciation for the game's attention to detail.
Activating Dramatic Intros
Dramatic Intros occur at the beginning of a match, replacing the standard character introductions with a unique scene. To successfully trigger a Dramatic Intro, you must meet several criteria:
- Specific Character Matchup: Each Dramatic Intro requires a particular pair of characters to be facing each other. For instance, to see the iconic confrontation between Goku and Frieza, both characters must be present on opposing teams.
- Correct Stage Selection: The stage where the battle takes place is crucial. Many Dramatic Intros are tied to specific locations that mirror their anime counterparts. For example, the "Planet Namek (Destroyed)" stage is often required for Frieza-related Dramatic Intros.
- Player 1's Point Character: The character that initiates the Dramatic Intro must be the first character (point character) on Player 1's team. This is a common requirement across most intros.
- Opponent's Point Character: Similarly, the opposing character involved in the Dramatic Intro must be the first character on Player 2's team.
Strategy for Activation: To consistently trigger Dramatic Intros, we recommend setting up custom lobbies or playing against a friend. Coordinate your team compositions and stage selections carefully. In offline modes like Arcade or Story, you'll need a bit of luck with opponent matchups and stage rotations, though some story segments may naturally trigger them.
Activating Dramatic Finishes
Dramatic Finishes are even more elaborate, triggering at the very end of a match when specific conditions are met. These cinematic sequences often depict the final, devastating blow from a memorable anime scene.
- Specific Character Matchup: Just like intros, Dramatic Finishes require a particular character to deliver the final blow to another specific character. For example, Goku defeating Frieza with a Super Spirit Bomb.
- Correct Stage Selection: The stage is paramount. Many Dramatic Finishes are tied to specific locations. For instance, the "Wasteland" stage is essential for certain Gohan (Adult) finishes against Cell.
- Final Character Standing: The character performing the Dramatic Finish must be the last remaining character on their team. This means all other teammates must have been defeated.
- Opponent's Last Character: The character being defeated must also be the last remaining character on the opposing team.
- Specific Super Attack: The most critical condition is often the use of a specific Super Attack to land the final hit. Not just any attack will do; it must be the exact move that triggers the cinematic. For example, Gohan (Adult)'s Level 3 Super, "Father-Son Kamehameha," against Cell on the "Wasteland" stage.
Strategy for Activation: Activating Dramatic Finishes can be challenging due to the precise requirements. Here's a step-by-step approach:
- Identify the Finish: Consult online resources or the game's in-game unlockables list (if available) to determine the specific characters, stage, and finishing move required for the Dramatic Finish you want to see.
- Team Composition: Build your team with the character who needs to perform the finish as your anchor (last character). Ensure the opponent's team has the target character as their anchor.
- Stage Selection: Select the correct stage.
- Manage Health: During the match, focus on defeating the opponent's first two characters while preserving your anchor character's health and meter.
- Execute the Finish: Once both teams are down to their last character, and your anchor has sufficient meter for the required Super Attack, aim to land that specific Super Attack as the final blow. It might take several attempts to get the timing and hit confirm just right.
Unlocking & Viewing
While Dramatic Intros and Finishes trigger automatically once conditions are met, you can also view them in the "Replay Channel" if you save a match where one occurred. Additionally, some Dramatic Finishes might be tied to specific Story Mode chapters or Arcade Mode routes, offering a more controlled environment to experience them for the first time.
Experiment with different character combinations and stages. The satisfaction of seeing these beautifully animated sequences unfold is a reward in itself for any Dragon Ball fan!
