Character Creation & Customization
Welcome, aspiring Time Patroller! Your journey in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 begins with crafting your unique warrior. This detailed guide will walk you through the character creation process, from choosing your race to fine-tuning your appearance and understanding the impact of your choices.
I. Initial Character Creation
Upon starting a new game, you'll be prompted to create your custom character. This is a crucial step, as your initial choices will influence your playstyle and available transformations.
- Race Selection: The first and most impactful decision is your character's race. Each race offers distinct stat bonuses and unique transformations. Consider your preferred combat style when making this choice:
- Saiyans: Excellent all-rounders with high attack power. Their unique transformations include Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, and Super Vegeta, significantly boosting their offensive capabilities.
- Earthlings: Balanced stats and ki regeneration. Their unique transformation is the Nimbus/Power Pole, which grants temporary invincibility and enhanced melee.
- Namekians: High health and stamina, with good regeneration. Their unique transformation is Giant Form, increasing their size and defense, making them formidable tanks.
- Frieza Race: High speed and excellent Ki Blast Supers. Their unique transformation is Golden Form, which dramatically boosts their Ki Blast Super damage and movement speed.
- Majins: High defense and good health, but slower stamina recovery. Their unique transformation is Purification, which transforms them into a Kid Buu-like state, altering their moveset and boosting attack.
- Gender (Saiyans & Earthlings Only): For Saiyans and Earthlings, gender also plays a role in stat distribution.
- Male: Generally have higher basic attack and health.
- Female: Tend to have higher Ki Blast Super damage and better stamina recovery.
- Appearance Customization: After selecting your race and gender (if applicable), you'll delve into the visual customization. This includes:
- Body Type: Adjust height and build. Taller characters generally have more health but move slower, while shorter characters are faster but have less health.
- Head: Choose from various hairstyles, facial features, and eye types.
- Upper/Lower Body: Select default clothing options.
- Hands/Feet: Choose gloves and boots.
- Accessories: Add items like scouters or earrings.
- Voice: Select from a range of voice types.
- Name: Give your Time Patroller a unique name.
II. Post-Creation Customization in Conton City
Your journey doesn't end with the initial creation! Conton City offers extensive options to further customize your character's appearance and even their combat effectiveness.
- Changing Appearance:
- Namekian House (Capsule Corporation Area): To change your character's physical appearance (hair, eyes, body type, voice, etc.), head to the Namekian House located in the Capsule Corporation area of Conton City. Speak to the Namekian NPC inside to access the customization menu. This service is free for most changes, allowing you to experiment with different looks.
- Clothing Shops: Conton City boasts several clothing shops where you can purchase new apparel. These shops are scattered throughout the city, offering a vast array of tops, bottoms, gloves, shoes, and accessories. New items become available as you progress through the story and complete Parallel Quests.
- Costume Presets (Customization Slots):
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 allows you to save up to 8 different costume presets for your created character. This is incredibly useful for both aesthetic variety and strategic gameplay:
- Accessing Presets: You can manage your costume presets from the main menu under "Customization" or by interacting with the "Equipment" terminal in Conton City.
- Stat-Altering Equipment: Many pieces of equipment in the game come with stat bonuses or penalties. By creating different presets, you can tailor your character's stats for specific situations. For example:
- Create a "Melee Build" preset with equipment that boosts Basic Attack and Strike Super damage (e.g., Bardock's Battle Suit, Beerus's Clothes).
- Develop a "Ki Blast Build" preset using gear that enhances Ki Blast Super damage and Ki regeneration (e.g., Whis's Symbol Gi, Ultimate Frieza's Suit).
- Design a "Defensive Build" with equipment that increases health and defense (e.g., Hercule's Clothes, Great Saiyaman Suit).
- Acquiring Equipment: Equipment can be obtained through various means:
- Story Mode: Completing story missions often rewards specific clothing items.
- Parallel Quests: Many Parallel Quests have a chance to drop unique clothing pieces upon completion. Repeatedly farming specific PQs is a common strategy for acquiring desired gear.
- TP Medal Shop: The TP Medal Shop (located near the main plaza in Conton City) periodically offers rare and powerful equipment for purchase using TP Medals, which are earned from various activities like Expert Missions and online battles.
- Mixing Shop: The Mixing Shop allows you to combine certain items to create new ones, including some powerful Super Souls and clothing.
By understanding and using these character creation and customization options, you can craft a truly unique and powerful Time Patroller ready to defend history!
