Differences from Xenoverse 1 & Carry-overs

Welcome, Time Patrollers! As you embark on your new adventures in Conton City, you'll notice many enhancements and changes from your previous experiences in Toki Toki City. This section will detail the key differences between Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and its predecessor, along with crucial information on what you can carry over from your Xenoverse 1 save data.

Key Differences & Improvements in Xenoverse 2

Xenoverse 2 builds upon the foundation of the first game, offering a more expansive world, refined mechanics, and a richer overall experience. Here's what sets it apart:

  • Conton City: A Larger Hub World:
    • Unlike the smaller Toki Toki City, Conton City is significantly larger and more interactive. You can now fly freely around the city after progressing through the early stages of the story, making navigation much faster and more enjoyable.
    • The city is divided into distinct districts, each housing different facilities and activities, such as the Time Nest, Orange Star High School, and the various Faction areas.
  • Enhanced Combat Mechanics:
    • Stamina Break: A new core mechanic that allows you to temporarily incapacitate opponents, leaving them vulnerable to powerful combos and Ultimate Attacks. Mastering this is crucial for advanced combat.
    • Awakened Skills: Each race now has unique Awakened Skills (e.g., Super Saiyan for Saiyans, Purification for Majins). These transformations are more impactful and often come with specific stat boosts and limitations.
    • Improved Combo System: While similar in feel, the combat flow is generally smoother, allowing for more fluid and varied attack strings.
  • More Diverse Parallel Quests (PQs) and Expert Missions (EMs):
    • PQs offer a wider variety of scenarios and objectives, often with more dynamic enemy spawns and ultimate finishes.
    • Expert Missions are challenging multi-player boss battles with unique mechanics, requiring teamwork and strategy to overcome. These are a new addition and provide excellent rewards.
  • Mentors and Training:
    • The mentor system is more integrated, with specific training locations and unique challenges for each mentor. Completing their training unlocks their signature skills and sometimes even their outfits.
    • New mentors have been added, expanding the range of available skills and playstyles.
  • Character Customization:
    • While the core customization options remain, Xenoverse 2 introduces more clothing items, accessories, and subtle appearance adjustments.
    • Specific racial transformations are now more visually distinct and offer unique benefits.
  • Story Mode Structure:
    • The main story still revolves around correcting historical anomalies, but the narrative is more expansive, featuring new villains and altered timelines.
    • The progression feels less linear, with more side activities and optional content available as you advance.

Carry-over Mechanics from Xenoverse 1

One of the most exciting features for returning players is the ability to transfer certain data from your Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 save file. This allows your previous efforts to have a lasting impact on your new adventure.

How to Initiate the Carry-over:

  1. Ensure you have a Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1 save file present on the same platform you are playing Xenoverse 2 (e.g., PS4 to PS4, Xbox One to Xbox One).
  2. When you start a new game in Xenoverse 2, after creating your new Time Patroller, the game will prompt you to import data from Xenoverse 1.
  3. Confirm the import to bring over your chosen character and their associated items.

What Carries Over:

  • Your Xenoverse 1 Main Character:
    • Your primary Time Patroller from Xenoverse 1 will appear in Conton City as a hero statue. This is a purely cosmetic tribute and does not grant you direct control over them.
    • More importantly, your Xenoverse 1 character's appearance (race, gender, body type, face, hair, voice) will be available as a preset when creating new characters in Xenoverse 2, allowing you to easily recreate them if desired.
  • Skills:
    • A selection of Super and Ultimate Attacks learned by your Xenoverse 1 character will be available for purchase or immediate use in Xenoverse 2. The exact skills that carry over can vary based on your progress in the first game.
    • Strategy: It's highly recommended to have completed all mentor training and collected as many skills as possible in Xenoverse 1 to maximize your carry-over benefits.
  • Equipment (Outfits & Accessories):
    • A significant portion of the clothing and accessories your Xenoverse 1 character possessed will be added to your Xenoverse 2 inventory. This includes full sets and individual pieces.
    • Note: Not all items will transfer, particularly those tied to specific DLC or promotional events in Xenoverse 1 that may not be present in the base Xenoverse 2.
  • Zeni and TP Medals:
    • A portion of your Zeni (in-game currency) and TP Medals from Xenoverse 1 will transfer over. This provides a helpful boost to your starting funds in Xenoverse 2, allowing you to purchase skills, items, or even level up early.
    • Strategy: Before importing, consider spending any excess Zeni or TP Medals in Xenoverse 1 on valuable items or skills that might carry over, or simply save them to maximize the transferred amount.

What Does NOT Carry Over:

  • Story Progress: Your main story progression from Xenoverse 1 does not carry over. You will need to play through the Xenoverse 2 story from the beginning with your new Time Patroller. This is by design, as the developers want players to experience the new narrative.
  • Level and Stats: Your character's level and allocated stat points do not transfer. All new characters in Xenoverse 2 start at Level 1.
  • PQ/EM Completion: Your completion status for Parallel Quests and Expert Missions from Xenoverse 1 does not carry over. You'll need to unlock and complete these again in Xenoverse 2.
  • Inventory (Consumables, Crafting Materials): Most consumable items and crafting materials will not transfer. Focus on transferring equipment and currency.

By understanding these differences and carry-over mechanics, you can better prepare for your journey as a Time Patroller in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and make the most of your previous adventures!
