Instructor Training
Instructor Training is a crucial system in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 that allows your custom Time Patroller to learn powerful new skills and unlock unique customization options. By seeking out various iconic characters from the Dragon Ball universe, you can undertake special training missions to expand your combat repertoire.
Getting Started with Instructors
To begin your journey in Instructor Training, you'll first need to progress through the main story campaign. Instructors will gradually appear in Conton City as you complete key missions. Keep an eye on your mini-map for icons indicating available instructors.
- Initial Instructors: Early in the game, characters like Krillin, Yamcha, and Tien will be readily available in the central plaza of Conton City.
- Unlocking More Instructors: Many powerful instructors, such as Vegeta, Piccolo, and even Beerus, require higher player levels or completion of specific story arcs before they will appear and offer their tutelage.
- Friendship Levels: Each instructor has a "Friendship Level" that increases as you train with them and successfully complete their lessons. Higher friendship levels unlock more advanced skills and sometimes even special items.
The Training Process
Once you've located an instructor, interacting with them will present you with their available lessons. Each lesson typically involves a combat scenario designed to test your skills and teach you a new move.
- Initiate Training: Approach an instructor and select "Train." They will offer you a specific skill to learn.
- Complete the Lesson: You'll be transported to a training arena where you must fulfill the instructor's requirements. This often involves using specific attacks, combos, or simply defeating them within a time limit.
- Receive Your Reward: Upon successful completion, you'll learn the new skill (Super Attack, Ultimate Attack, or Evasive Skill) and your friendship level with that instructor will increase.
- Repeat for Advanced Skills: Continue training with the same instructor to unlock subsequent, more powerful skills they offer.
Boosting Friendship Levels
Increasing your friendship with instructors is key to unlocking all their skills and rewards. While completing lessons is the primary method, there are other ways to accelerate this process:
- Equip Instructor's Skills: Using skills learned from an instructor in Parallel Quests or Story Missions will passively increase your friendship with them.
- Bring Instructor as a Mentor: In certain Parallel Quests, you can select your current instructor as an AI ally. Successfully completing these quests with them will grant a significant friendship boost.
- Gift Items: Some instructors appreciate specific items. While not always obvious, certain accessories or consumables found throughout Conton City or from Parallel Quests can be given as gifts to slightly increase friendship.
Important Considerations
- Mentor Limit: You can only have one active instructor (mentor) at a time. To train with a new instructor, you must first "un-mentor" your current one. This can be done by speaking to your current instructor and selecting the appropriate option.
- Awakened Skills: Some instructors, particularly those tied to special events or DLC, may offer "Awakened Skills" (transformations). These are often the final and most challenging lessons.
- Mastery: Once you've learned all skills from an instructor and reached maximum friendship, they may offer a final, challenging "Mastery Test." Completing this often grants a special Z-Soul or a unique piece of equipment related to that character.
By diligently training with all available instructors, you'll not only amass a formidable arsenal of techniques but also deepen your connection with the legendary heroes and villains of the Dragon Ball universe, making your Time Patroller truly unstoppable!
