Time Miniatures & Large Time Rifts

Beyond the main Time Patrol story, Conton City is home to various side activities that deepen your experience and unlock powerful new abilities and items. Among the most crucial are the Time Miniatures and the Large Time Rifts they represent. These aren't just optional distractions; completing their unique storylines is often essential for progression, unlocking advanced techniques, and even obtaining new transformations.

Understanding Time Miniatures

Time Miniatures are small, glowing replicas of important locations scattered throughout Conton City. Interacting with these miniatures transports you to a corresponding Large Time Rift, which functions as a mini-hub with its own distinct storyline and characters. There are five primary Large Time Rifts, each offering unique rewards and challenges:

  • Capsule Corporation: Home to Vegeta and Bulma.
  • Hercule's House: Where you can train with the World Champion.
  • Majin Buu's House: Assist Majin Buu in raising his family.
  • Frieza's Spaceship: Join Frieza's army (or oppose it).
  • Guru's House: Help the Namekians on Planet Namek.

You'll typically be guided to these locations by the Supreme Kai of Time or other NPCs as you progress through the main story, especially after completing certain sagas like the Cell Saga.

Accessing and Completing Large Time Rifts

To begin a Large Time Rift storyline, simply locate its corresponding Time Miniature in Conton City and interact with it. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect and how to approach each one:

Capsule Corporation
  • Location: Directly accessible by flying or walking to the Capsule Corporation building in Conton City. The miniature is usually near the entrance.
  • Objective: Train with Vegeta to unlock the Super Vegeta transformation for Saiyans. You'll need to complete a series of sparring matches, proving your strength to him.
  • Strategy: Vegeta's training missions can be challenging. Focus on perfecting your combos and evasive skills. Having a good set of Z-Souls and Super Souls equipped will also be beneficial.
  • Rewards: Unlocks Super Vegeta 1 & 2 (Saiyan transformation), various skills, and potentially Z-Souls.
Hercule's House
  • Location: Found in the Residential Area of Conton City.
  • Objective: Assist Hercule by completing various tasks and challenges, often involving fighting off minor threats or participating in his "training" sessions.
  • Strategy: These missions are generally straightforward and serve as a good source of Zeni. They are less combat-intensive than other rifts.
  • Rewards: Zeni, some basic skills, and access to the Great Saiyaman missions later on.
Majin Buu's House
  • Location: Situated in the Residential Area, a short distance from Hercule's House.
  • Objective: Feed Majin Buu to help him create more Majin children. You'll need to gather specific food items from various PQs or the Item Shop.
  • Strategy: This rift is less about combat and more about resource management. Keep an eye on your inventory for food items. The more children Buu has, the more potential rewards you can earn.
  • Rewards: Once Buu has enough children, they can produce Super Souls and QQ Bangs. The quality of these items improves as Buu's family grows.
Frieza's Spaceship
  • Location: Hovering above the Industrial Area of Conton City.
  • Objective: Join Frieza's army and complete missions for him, or eventually challenge him. This storyline progresses through several stages, involving characters like Zarbon, Dodoria, and Captain Ginyu.
  • Strategy: These missions often involve multiple opponents and can be quite difficult. Be prepared for challenging fights. Your choices within this rift can also influence the storyline and available missions.
  • Rewards: Unlocks the Golden Frieza transformation for Frieza Race characters, various Frieza Force skills, and Z-Souls.
Guru's House
  • Location: In the Namekian section of Conton City, accessible by flying.
  • Objective: Protect Guru's House from Frieza Force invaders and assist Nail in various tasks. You'll need to collect Dragon Balls for Guru.
  • Strategy: The missions here are primarily combat-focused, defending against waves of enemies. Collecting Dragon Balls is crucial for progression. You'll eventually unlock the ability to increase your attribute points and level cap.
  • Rewards: Unlocks the ability to increase your character's maximum level to 99, increase the maximum number of attribute points to 125 per stat, and obtain additional Dragon Balls more frequently.

Expert Missions & Tutorial Time Rifts

Separate from the Large Time Rifts, you'll also encounter Expert Missions. These are distinct time rifts that appear as large, swirling pink and purple energy balls across Conton City. After reaching a certain point in the main story (typically after the Cell Saga), the Supreme Kai of Time will guide you to the first few Expert Missions, which serve as tutorials for this challenging content.

  • Location: Expert Mission rifts can appear in various locations, often on cliffs or elevated areas. The first two tutorial missions are usually found near Vegeta's training area.
  • Objective: Defeat powerful, oversized bosses with unique mechanics, often requiring teamwork.
  • Strategy: Expert Missions are designed for multiple players, but can be attempted solo. Focus on dodging powerful attacks, breaking the boss's stamina, and utilizing your strongest ultimates. Be wary of mind control attacks!
  • Rewards: TP Medals, rare Super Souls, and sometimes unique accessories or clothing.

Successfully navigating these Time Miniatures and Large Time Rifts is key to fully experiencing Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and empowering your Time Patroller to face any challenge!
