Story Quests: Frieza Saga
Welcome, Time Patroller! The Frieza Saga is a pivotal and challenging arc in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. You'll be traveling to Planet Namek to correct distortions in the timeline, facing off against Frieza's formidable forces and the tyrant himself. Prepare for intense battles and strategic engagements!
Preparations for Namek
Before embarking on your journey to Namek, ensure your character is adequately prepared. The enemies you'll face here are significantly stronger than those in the Saiyan Saga.
- Level Recommendation: Aim for at least Level 20-25. Grinding Parallel Quests (PQs) like "Frieza's Siege" or "Saiyan Pride" in the Time Nest can help you gain experience quickly.
- Equipment:
- Z-Souls: Consider Z-Souls that boost your Ki or Stamina regeneration, such as "I'm a Saiyan, raised on Earth!" (obtained from Goku as a mentor or certain PQs) or "I'll never forgive you!" for a damage boost.
- Clothing: Equip clothing that complements your build. For example, if you're a Strike-based character, look for clothing that boosts Strike Supers. Check the Item Shop in Conton City for new arrivals or complete PQs for potential drops.
- Skills: Ensure you have a balanced set of Super and Ultimate Attacks. Having at least one reliable Ki Blast Super and one Strike Super is often beneficial. Consider defensive skills like "Energy Barrier" or "Perfect Guard" if you find yourself struggling with incoming damage.
Frieza Saga Walkthrough
1. Arrival on Namek: Ginyu Force's Advance
Your first mission on Namek will involve confronting members of the Ginyu Force, who are already causing trouble. The timeline is being altered to make their presence more overwhelming.
- Objective: Defeat Cui and Dodoria.
- Strategy: These two aren't overly difficult, but they can gang up on you. Focus on one at a time. Cui is generally faster, while Dodoria hits harder. Use your strongest Super Attacks to quickly dispatch them.
- Distortion: You may encounter a distorted version of Zarbon or Appule assisting them. Prioritize the main targets first.
- Reward: 5000 Zeni, Small Mix Capsule, potentially "Dodoria's Clothes" or "Cui's Clothes."
2. Vegeta's Betrayal and the Ginyu Force
The next major distortion involves Vegeta's unpredictable actions and the full might of the Ginyu Force.
- Objective: Assist Krillin and Gohan against Guldo, then defeat Recoome.
- Strategy (Guldo): Guldo's "Time Stop" ability can be annoying. Stay aggressive and try to break his guard. If he uses Time Stop, quickly mash buttons to reduce its duration. Your allies will help distract him.
- Strategy (Recoome): Recoome is a brute. His "Recoome Eraser Gun" is powerful but has a long wind-up. Dodge or block it. Get behind him and unleash combos. Be wary of his "Recoome Kick" which can break your guard.
- Distortion: Frieza (First Form) might appear to observe the battle, occasionally firing Ki Blasts. Ignore him and focus on Recoome.
- Reward: 8000 Zeni, Medium Mix Capsule, "Recoome's Clothes," "Guldo's Clothes," potentially "Recoome Eraser Gun" skill.
3. Captain Ginyu's Body Change
This is a critical moment in the saga, and the Time Breakers are attempting to exploit Ginyu's unique ability.
- Objective: Defeat Captain Ginyu and prevent the "Body Change" distortion.
- Strategy: Ginyu is fast and uses several techniques. His "Body Change" is the main threat. If he starts charging it, immediately hit him with a strong attack or a Ki Blast to interrupt. If he successfully uses it on you, you'll temporarily play as Ginyu, and your original body will be controlled by the AI. You'll need to defeat your own body to reclaim it. To avoid this, stay close and aggressive.
- Distortion: Sometimes, a distorted Ginyu (in Goku's body) will appear prematurely. You'll need to defeat both Ginyu (in his original body) and the distorted Ginyu (in Goku's body). Prioritize the original Ginyu to prevent the Body Change.
- Reward: 12000 Zeni, Large Mix Capsule, "Ginyu's Clothes," potentially "Body Change" skill (if you prevent the distortion successfully).
4. Frieza's True Power: First Form to Final Form
The battle against Frieza begins in earnest. You'll witness his transformations firsthand.
- Objective: Defeat Frieza (First Form), then Frieza (Second Form), and finally Frieza (Third Form).
- Strategy (First Form): Frieza's first form is relatively straightforward. He uses "Death Beam" and "Death Ball." Dodge the Death Ball and counter-attack after his combos.
- Strategy (Second Form): Frieza gains more power and new attacks like "Death Wave." He's more aggressive. Keep your guard up and look for openings after his attack sequences.
- Strategy (Third Form): This form introduces "Death Blaster" and a more erratic fighting style. He's faster and harder to hit. Use quick combos and evasive skills.
- Distortion: Distorted versions of Zarbon (Monster Form) or Dodoria might appear to assist Frieza. Take them out quickly to focus on Frieza.
- Reward: 18000 Zeni, All-Energy Capsule S, "Frieza's Clothes (First Form)," potentially "Death Beam" skill.
5. The Emperor's Fury: Final Form Frieza
The ultimate showdown on Namek. Frieza in his final, most powerful form.
- Objective: Defeat Frieza (Final Form).
- Strategy: This is a tough fight. Frieza (Final Form) is incredibly fast and powerful. He uses "Death Ball," "Death Saucer," and a barrage of Ki Blasts.
- Patience is Key: Don't rush in blindly. Wait for Frieza to finish his combos or use a Super Attack, then counter.
- Stamina Management: Guarding and evasive skills will drain your Stamina. Be mindful of your Stamina bar to avoid being guard broken or left vulnerable.
- Ultimate Attacks: Unleash your most powerful Ultimate Attacks when Frieza is stunned or recovering.
- Allies: Gohan and Krillin will be present. Use them as distractions to get some free hits on Frieza.
- Distortion: Mira or Towa might appear to empower Frieza, giving him increased stats or even a temporary Golden Frieza transformation. Focus all your efforts on Frieza during these moments, as the distortion will usually disappear once Frieza's health reaches a certain threshold.
- Reward: 25000 Zeni, All-Energy Capsule L, "Frieza's Clothes (Final Form)," potentially "Death Ball" skill, "Supernova" skill.
Successfully completing the Frieza Saga will unlock new mentors, Parallel Quests, and advance you further in your Time Patrol duties. Good luck, Time Patroller!
