Time Patrol Quests

Time Patrol Quests are the core narrative missions of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, where you, as a Time Patroller, must correct distortions in history. These quests follow the main storyline, often revisiting iconic moments from the Dragon Ball saga. Successfully completing them is crucial for progressing through the game and unlocking new areas, characters, and abilities.

Starting Your Time Patrol Journey

Your journey as a Time Patroller begins in Conton City. After the initial character creation and tutorial, you'll be directed to the Time Nest to meet the Supreme Kai of Time and Elder Kai. They will assign you your first mission.

To initiate a Time Patrol Quest:

  1. Locate the large blue time rift in Conton City. This is the Time Nest entrance.
  2. Speak to the Supreme Kai of Time or Elder Kai within the Time Nest.
  3. Select the next available Time Patrol Quest from the list.
  4. Confirm your selection and prepare for battle!

General Strategies for Time Patrol Quests

  • Understand the Objective: Each quest has specific win conditions. Sometimes it's simply defeating all enemies, other times it's protecting an ally or collecting items. Pay attention to the on-screen prompts.
  • Utilize Your Allies: Many Time Patrol Quests will have AI-controlled allies. Use their support, especially for drawing enemy aggro or setting up combos.
  • Manage Your Ki and Stamina: These are your most vital resources. Learn when to guard, when to use evasive skills, and when to unleash your most powerful attacks.
  • Equip Appropriately: Before starting a mission, check your equipped Super Souls, Skills, and Z-Souls. Tailor them to the expected challenges. For example, if you know you'll be facing multiple opponents, consider area-of-effect attacks.
  • Heal When Necessary: Use your regeneration items (e.g., Senzu Beans, Energy Capsules) strategically. Don't be afraid to use them if your health drops too low.

Early Game Time Patrol Quests Walkthrough

Time Patrol: Saiyan Saga Part 1: Raditz Attacks

This is one of your very first assignments, introducing you to the core mechanics of Time Patrolling.

  • Objective: Defeat Raditz.
  • Location: Plains (Area 1).
  • Walkthrough:
    1. You'll start alongside Goku and Piccolo. Focus your attacks on Raditz.
    2. Raditz is a strong opponent for an early game character. Don't be overly aggressive. Use basic combos and charge your Ki when you have an opening.
    3. Pay attention to Goku and Piccolo's special attacks, as they can stun Raditz, creating openings for your own attacks.
    4. When Raditz prepares his Double Sunday attack, try to guard or use an evasive skill to minimize damage.
    5. Continue to chip away at his health. The fight will progress through a few phases, with Raditz potentially becoming more aggressive.
    6. The mission concludes once Raditz is defeated.
  • Potential Rewards: Zeni, Experience Points, Basic Attack Skills.

Advanced Time Patrol Strategies & Dragon Ball Farming

As you progress, Time Patrol Quests become more challenging, often featuring multiple opponents, stricter time limits, or more complex objectives. Some quests also offer a chance to encounter Time Patrollers, who, upon defeat, can drop Dragon Balls.

Farming Dragon Balls from Time Patrollers

Collecting all seven Dragon Balls allows you to summon Shenron and wish for various powerful rewards, including new characters, skills, or stat resets. Certain Parallel Quests (PQs) are excellent for farming these elusive items.

To increase your chances of encountering Time Patrollers in PQs:

  • Complete the Primary Objective Quickly: Sometimes, Time Patrollers only appear after the main enemies are defeated within a certain timeframe.
  • Check All Areas: Time Patrollers often spawn in different sections of the map. After clearing an area, fly around to see if a new enemy icon (usually a blue dot) appears.
  • Look for Specific PQs: The following Parallel Quests are known for their higher Time Patroller spawn rates:
    • PQ 04: Prepare for the Attack of Saiyans! (Spawns after defeating all initial enemies.)
    • PQ 07: Attack of the Saiyans
    • PQ 11: Burst Open and Mix!
    • PQ 19: Fierce Battle! Ginyu Force (Often spawns at the beginning.)
    • PQ 23: The Explosion of Namek (Spawns after defeating Frieza.)
    • PQ 31: Let's Train (Often spawns at the beginning.)
    • PQ 34: Return of Ginyu Force! (Often spawns at the beginning.)
    • PQ 38: Power Teams (Spawns after defeating all enemies in the second area.)
    • PQ 52: Super Saiyan Bargain Sale (Spawns after defeating all initial enemies.)
    • PQ 79: Great Ape Festival (Known for potentially dropping multiple Dragon Balls.)

When you encounter a Time Patroller, defeat them. If they drop a "Key Item," there's a high chance it's a Dragon Ball. Repeat these PQs until you have all seven!
