Summon Menu Explained
The Summon Menu is your gateway to acquiring new and powerful characters in Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle. Understanding its various banners and mechanics is crucial for efficient team building and strategic resource management. This detailed guide will walk you through everything you need to know to make the most of your summoning efforts.
Accessing the Summon Menu
- From the Home Screen, locate and tap the "Summon" button, typically found at the bottom of the screen alongside other core menu options like "Team," "Events," and "Shop."
- This will take you to the main Summon interface, where you'll see a carousel of active summoning banners.
Understanding Summon Banners
Dokkan Battle features several types of summon banners, each with its own characteristics, featured characters, and summoning currencies. Always read the banner details carefully before spending your resources!
1. Dokkan Festival Banners (DFEs)
- Description: These are the most anticipated banners, featuring powerful new Dokkan Festival Exclusive (DFE) characters. DFEs are often meta-defining units with unique leader skills, passive abilities, and active skills.
- Currency: Primarily Dragon Stones.
- Summon Options:
- Single Summon: Costs 5 Dragon Stones for one character.
- Multi-Summon (10x): Costs 50 Dragon Stones for ten characters, often with a guaranteed SR or higher, or even a guaranteed SSR on specific steps.
- Strategy:
- Save Dragon Stones: It's generally recommended to save your Dragon Stones for Dokkan Festival banners, especially during major celebrations (e.g., Anniversaries, Worldwide Celebrations) when rates are often boosted or step-up summons are available.
- Check Featured Units: Always review the "Scouter" or "Details" section of the banner to see the full list of featured characters and their drop rates. Prioritize banners that feature units you need to strengthen your teams.
- Step-Up Summons: Some DFE banners offer "step-up" mechanics, where each multi-summon costs fewer stones or guarantees better pulls (e.g., a guaranteed featured SSR on the 3rd multi). These are highly valuable.
2. Legendary Summon Banners (LGEs)
- Description: These banners feature new Legendary Summon Exclusive (LGE) characters, often referred to as "Legendary Rare" (LR) units. LGEs are incredibly powerful and rare, typically having higher stats and more complex abilities than standard SSRs.
- Currency: Primarily Dragon Stones.
- Summon Options: Similar to Dokkan Festival banners, with Single and Multi-Summon options.
- Strategy:
- Extreme Rarity: LGEs have notoriously low pull rates. Only summon on these banners if you have a substantial amount of Dragon Stones saved or if the featured LR is a game-changer for your specific teams.
- Coin Exchange: LGE banners often award Legendary Coins (yellow coins) for each multi-summon. These can be exchanged for LGE characters in the Baba Shop once you accumulate enough.
3. Type Banners
- Description: These banners focus on specific character types (AGL, TEQ, INT, STR, PHY). They are less frequent but can be useful for players looking to fill gaps in their mono-type teams.
- Currency: Dragon Stones.
- Strategy: Generally not recommended for new players or those with limited Dragon Stones, as the overall value is often lower than DFE or LGE banners. Only summon if you desperately need a specific type of unit.
4. Friend Summon
- Description: A free-to-play summoning option that uses Friend Points instead of Dragon Stones.
- Currency: Friend Points.
- Summon Options:
- Single Summon: Costs 200 Friend Points.
- Multi-Summon (10x): Costs 2,000 Friend Points.
- Strategy:
- Awakening Medals & Training Items: Friend Summons are excellent for acquiring N and R rarity characters, which can be used as training fodder or sold for Zeni. More importantly, they are the primary source for specific awakening medals (e.g., Gregory, Bubbles, Dr. Gero) and training items (e.g., Gravity Chamber, Z-Sword).
- LR Frieza (1st Form) & LR Great Saiyaman 1 & 2: These two powerful LR units can be obtained and rainbowed entirely through Friend Summons, making them invaluable for free-to-play players. Keep summoning to collect their copies!
- Daily Activity: Perform Friend Summons daily to clear missions and stock up on essential resources.
Summoning Mechanics & Visual Cues
When you perform a summon, a short animation plays. Certain visual cues can indicate the rarity and potential of the character(s) you're about to receive:
- Screen Breaks: A cracked screen before the summon animation often indicates a guaranteed SSR.
- "It's over when I say it's over!": Goku's iconic line, especially with specific characters appearing (e.g., Frieza, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin), can signify a rare summon or even a Dokkan Festival Exclusive.
- Fusion/Transformation: Goku fusing with Vegeta (Vegito Blue) or transforming into Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (SSGSS) are strong indicators of a high-rarity pull, often a featured SSR or even an LR.
- Rift/Whis Animation: Whis rewinding time is a rare animation that guarantees a featured unit or a very high-tier character.
Summon Coins
Every Dragon Stone multi-summon (and some single summons) awards a specific type of coin, depending on the banner type. These coins can be exchanged in the Baba Shop for various characters, including past Dokkan Festival Exclusives and Legendary Summon Exclusives.
- Red Coins (Dokkan Coins): Obtained from Dokkan Festival banners. Exchangeable for Dokkan Festival Exclusive characters.
- Yellow Coins (Legendary Coins): Obtained from Legendary Summon banners. Exchangeable for Legendary Summon Exclusive characters.
- Blue Coins (Carnival Coins): Obtained from Carnival banners (a type of banner that features specific LRs and other powerful units). Exchangeable for Carnival Exclusive LRs and other powerful units.
Strategy: Save your coins! It takes a significant number of coins (typically 400-500) to exchange for a top-tier unit. Use them strategically to acquire units you missed or to get dupes for characters you want to strengthen via the Hidden Potential System.
By understanding these different summon types, their associated costs, and potential rewards, you can make informed decisions and optimize your Dragon Stone usage to build the strongest possible team in Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle!
