Chapter 7: Pinnacle of Power
Welcome, Captain! Chapter 7 marks a significant escalation in the fight against the monster hordes. You'll be facing some of the toughest challenges yet, requiring strategic party composition, efficient monster medal usage, and a keen eye for treasure. This chapter focuses on the perilous journey through the Gloomy Gallery and the climactic confrontation within the World Tree's Heart.
7-1. Gloomy Gallery Gauntlet
Your first objective in Chapter 7 is to navigate the treacherous Gloomy Gallery. This area is known for its tight corridors and ambush points, so always be on guard.
Initial Objectives:
- Defeat the Giga Golem: Upon entering the gallery, you'll immediately be confronted by a formidable Giga Golem. Focus your strongest attacks on its legs to stagger it, then unleash your Coup de Grâce. Utilize monster medals like the Killing Machine or Golem to distract and deal heavy damage.
- Secure the Northern Passage: After the Giga Golem, proceed north. You'll encounter waves of Drackies and Slimes. These are easily dispatched, but don't underestimate their numbers.
- Activate the Eastern Lever: The path forward is blocked. Head east to find a lever guarded by a group of Hammerhoods. Defeat them and activate the lever to open the central gate.
Navigating the Central Chamber:
The central chamber of the Gloomy Gallery is a multi-tiered area swarming with various monster types. Prioritize taking out ranged attackers like Magicians and Archers first.
- Treasure Chest (Central Platform): On the raised central platform, you'll find a treasure chest containing a Mini Medal and 3x Yggdrasil Leaf. Be wary of the Metal Slime that often spawns nearby; it's a great source of experience if you can catch it!
- Southern Path & Golem Encounter: Head south from the central platform. You'll encounter another Golem. This one is accompanied by Brownies, who can be annoying with their stun attacks. Take out the Brownies first, then focus on the Golem.
- Western Lever: Continue west from the Golem encounter to find the second lever, guarded by Cyclops. These brutes hit hard, so use characters with high defense or evasion. Activating this lever fully opens the path to the World Tree's Heart.
Recommended Party & Strategy:
- Healer: Bring a dedicated healer like Isla or Aurora. The sustained damage in this chapter can be intense.
- Crowd Control: Characters with wide-area attacks, such as Terry or Jessica, are excellent for clearing out the numerous smaller monsters.
- Single-Target DPS: For the Giga Golems and Cyclops, a strong single-target damage dealer like Psaro or Yangus will be invaluable.
- Monster Medals: Stock up on Heal Slime medals for emergency healing and Killing Machine or Atlas medals for burst damage on larger foes.
7-2. World Tree's Heart: The Blight's Core
The final stretch of Chapter 7 takes you deep into the World Tree's Heart, where the source of the blight resides. This is a linear path leading to a major boss encounter.
Path to the Core:
- Monster Waves: Expect continuous waves of monsters as you advance. These will include tougher variants like Gigantes and Great Sabrecats. Don't rush; clear each wave to avoid being overwhelmed.
- Healing Fountain: Approximately halfway through the World Tree's Heart, you'll find a healing fountain. fully replenish your HP and MP before proceeding. This is your last chance before the boss.
- Treasure Chest (Near Fountain): Adjacent to the healing fountain, a hidden treasure chest contains a Seed of Strength and 5000 Gold.
Boss Battle: Dread Dragon
The Dread Dragon is a formidable foe, boasting high HP, powerful fire breath, and devastating claw attacks. This battle is a test of endurance and precise dodging.
Dread Dragon Strategy:
- Phase 1: Ground Attacks
- The Dread Dragon will primarily use sweeping claw attacks and a frontal fire breath.
- Dodge: Its attacks are telegraphed. For claw sweeps, dodge backward. For fire breath, dodge to the sides.
- Target Weak Points: Focus your attacks on its legs and head. When it rears its head back, it's often preparing for a fire breath, providing a brief window to attack its head.
- Monster Medals: Use Golem or Stone Man medals to draw its aggro, allowing your main damage dealers to attack safely from behind.
- Phase 2: Aerial Assault
- Once its HP is reduced to about 60%, the Dread Dragon will take to the air. It will unleash a wide-area fire attack and dive bombs.
- Avoid AOE: When it flies high, look for glowing areas on the ground indicating where its fire will land and move out of the way.
- Counter Dive: When it prepares a dive bomb, dodge at the last second. After it lands, it will be briefly vulnerable. This is your chance to unleash your strongest combos and Coup de Grâce.
- Ranged Attacks: If you have characters like Jessica or Maya, use their ranged abilities to chip away at its HP while it's airborne.
- General Tips:
- Stay Mobile: Constant movement is key to avoiding its powerful attacks.
- Heal Proactively: Don't wait until your HP is critical. Use Yggdrasil Leaves or Isla's healing spells when your party's health drops significantly.
- Burst Damage: Save your Coup de Grâce for when the Dread Dragon is stunned or recovering from a major attack to maximize damage.
- Elemental Weakness: The Dread Dragon is slightly vulnerable to Ice attacks. If you have characters with ice spells (e.g., Jessica's Kacrackle), utilize them.
Upon defeating the Dread Dragon, Chapter 7 concludes, and you'll be one step closer to unraveling the mystery of the blight!
